Patch - How the hell?

Is there a standalone patch I can download somewhere? Every time I launch the game and click to update when it asks it ends the game and nothing else happens. I don't want to install this Impulse crap to play a game.

Is there no other way to get this patched?

Yeah unfortunately they have a pretty bad system, you have no choice but to use impulse.  It's a pretty poorly designed interface, but it mostly works.

(who the hell thought it was a good idea to have a lightning bolt as a menu icon?  please take some interface design classes)

Impulse was installed when you installed the game.

The retail installer is Impulse installing it.

Have the retail disks been sent out yet?  I'm guessing they aren't patched up to date

Yes, FB, please put as many updates, tweaks, and bonuses into any patch as fast as you can. Anything, please.  Not for me, mind you, but just so I feel like I have a great retail copy, while the pirates consider actually buying the game as they hear more and more how a legal copy is so great    Right now, don't we basically have identicle games as the pirates?

I was offered a patch and it supposedly installed it.  I'm still showing a .105 and I see others funning a 107 version.  Why not allow a normal patch download like many games before this.  Steam sucks.  I don't buy anything if it's associated with it.  Too bad I didn't know what impulse was.  It's broken.  I want real media with real patches.  The only game I ever purchased as a download was at http://www.introversion.co.uk/defcon/ because it was an actual download and not part of a distribution scheme.  All their patches were downloaded like normal patches.  I'll add Impulse to my ban list.

This game has done nothing but piss me off because it's multiplayer I can't even play.  Many others have the same crashing issues that there is no fix for.

lets think about this logically for one moment; Demigod has zero DRM save for a key-check when playing online and patching.

now, if non-checking patches were available, pirates would be able to have updated copies of Demigod for free. couple that with powerful VPN siutes like Hamachi and GameRanger then no one would ever play online at all; the entire community would exist in VPN, pirates and all.

there'd be no way to check who was a pirate, and pirates would happily be able to play along side legitimate buyers.

oh, and ROFL Joy; you don't know much about Introversion now, do you? all their stuff is available on Steam! oh heaven forbid. are you going to stop playing Defcon now?

before you go and cry more about the patch system, and how Demigod is a multiplayer game, and you can't play; did you even do any research into what Demigod is before you paid for it?

may i ask, when you bought WoW did you complain because that was online too?
