Wonky placement restriction: Rook tower says "aborted" 75% of the time!

I don't know how these tower spamming rook players do it, because when I try to, 75% of the time, if not more, I get a red fading text saying "aborted" when I try to place the tower.

My guess is that this is down to a very picky collision detection, but it wastes so much time that I am filing this as a technical issue, because surely the game could move the tower an inch or two to a space that's free instead of cancelling the action?

I notice this too. I think it has problems when you try to put one too close to the edge. Even if it looks like it'll fit...it won't let you.

I personly did notice this.
but for me it seemed to only happen if i was to place the tower directly under the rook.
once i got the hang of "Oh cant put it right under him" it seemed to stop aborting for me.

but it could be something different.
i dont think its a "doesnt fit" problem because you can put towers ontop of eachother.

if it is just a minimum range issue then its easily fixed with a minimum range ring.
if its not minimum range maybe it needs to be looked at more.

I've noticed this as well.
There appears to be a space requirement from the edge of a lane for placing towers. To give a visual idea of far the gap needs to be, on some of the maps there are edgings to the lanes - such a different brick work or tiles - placing towers on this edging will cause the Rook to abort however placing inside the edging will be fine. There is also most definately a minimum range.

What I'd love to see is, not only a minimum range ring, but the Tower coloured Green when your moving the placement cursor around. When it moves over an area where the Tower can't be placed it should change colour to Red, providing a visual clue so you don't see "Aborted" when trying to place a tower in the middle of a heavy fight.
