Help with a very annoying problem

Hi, first of all I'd like to say hello
I bought Gal Civ today, played it for about 4 hours it is pretty damn cool.

I used stardock to update it, I was downloding the update while continuing to play, then... A Crash. I restarted the game, loaded my saved game, got the popup message "story so far" ...clicked done...and it crashed.

From that point on I was unable to load any games, or even start a new game. It continued to crash after the message.

If anyone knows how to fix this problem I would be very grateful.

You tried to load a old version game under 1.04 and it crashed? That happened to me. It was one of my old 1.03A games. I just reinstalled 1.03A, finished the old game, then updated and started anew. If your old game is not that far along, try starting a new game in 1.04 and see if that saves and reloads properly. And maybe updating on the fly like that while the game was running was not the best thing to do. Do it the old way. Update while the program is off, reboot, then see what happens.

Hmm...maybe something didn't get all the way updated.

If you install SmartException from under the free stuff tab in Stardock Central, it will generate a report when Gal Civ crashes. A dialog will pop up asking you to submit, click submit, then open log directory and the file will be there, Galciv.exe.cra.

You can e-mail that to me along with your debug.err file and I'll see what I can do to get you playing again. :)
