How do i get the most out of Demigod Multiplayer

So i have been looking over the - How to solve connectivity problems - and i have done the following.

Port forwarded my router 6002-6300

Changed the Impulse reactor ports from 6270-6290 (something like that) to 6002-6300

I disabled my router firewall and unblocked anon requests box

Windows firewall is off  (i know how to do an in-depth virus removal this doesnt bother me)

My question is what else should i do to make sure im going to connect to ppl? Should i assume my ISP doesnt have a firewall of their own and are blocking connections? (im part of the 60% of users who can play games but its flakey)
