studder framerates and sound

I notice in the latest patch, I'm getting studdered framerates and sound at random times. Anyone notice this? I never receive this in the beta and first week.
My theory is that during the beta, the game sometimes have long 5 second pauses randomly. Maybe it's trying to talk to some server. Now instead of long random 5-10 second pauses, I'm getting 5-10 seconds of studdered framerates and sound. Which is better than the long pauses that cause everyone to drop from the game.
This also happens when too many people are logged on at night. I'll have to verify if this happens in the morning.
