Required Upload Bandwidth for Demigod

What is the approximate amount of Bandwidth needed for for online play per player?  I've never had problems with any online games or FPS... but now I am... In games where there are 6 or more players, my pings go through the roof and I believe it has to do with the fact that I'm on a slower, lower grade DSL connection with a 768k up and / 128k down streams.

Will DG still work on a DSL connection like this?  No where that I can see does the packaging state what type of "high speed connection" is required for online play.  Just that one is required.

Thanks.

Its not you.  DG's problems are not about bandwith.  Switch to "windowed" under the Video tab in options, and open up the process manager to the networking tab.

Fire up a mp game and then switch to the pm. You'll see its a very small fraction of even the slowest DSL.

I have the same problem. 2v2 is OK, 3v3 - not. Im waiting to see if the connectivity patch solves this.

If not, I guess 128K upstream is simply not enough for this game. (Interestingly, I can play COH 4v4 without those issues so it must be something with the net code)

EDIT: I'll try windowed mode

EDIT2: The Networking tab of the Task Manager measures network utilization based on the physical bandwith of the network card so it measures relative to 100 Mbps. thats why it is only a fraction. Also it doesn't show upstream utilization separately. I'll test it with some more serious app, but I still think its the upload speed.

Your current issue is due to the way this system works. You are connecting to the Demigod server and to each individual person in a sense so it has more overhead than say a hosted FPS like FEAR or COH might where it's mainly the burden of the host.

Yes, I left it to the reader to be intelligent enough to actually READ the scale and see that the ACTUAL throughput was in fact a fraction of his pipe, not his ethernet card. I.E.  0.25% of 100MBps (ethernet) is 500Kbs which isn't enough to saturate any but the slowest of dsl connetions (and certainaly not my 10Mbit Cox Cable in SoCal, and yet connectivity is a dog. )

Actually 500Kbs would kill me.

I accidently had my numbers flipped..

768k down and / 128k up streams.

There are a number of DSL services that have upload speeds UNDER 500Kbs.

So, I'm still waiting to see if there's some type of official upload stream bandwidth that demigod requires point blank.

I could try it in windowed mode as you stated.

The BIG question is, whether or not there will be enough changes in the structure of the netcode to solve this bottleneck.

ie, with the proxy servers, receive data and then transmit it out. thus I would only have to send data to one location, instead of 5 or 6.
