10 minutes into a game I disconnect

I always seem to disconnect (I.e. all the other players simultaneously "leave the game" and are replaced by bots) at or around 10 minutes into the game...

Then impulse's chat stops too. I can still talk to it, but noone else seems to be able to talk back.

Did I disconnect from impulse? does that affect connectivity to other players? And why after every 10 minutes into any particular game do I disconnect from everyone? It's quite annoying. I was having a nice 2 on 2, it wasn't even lagging or anything and then suddenly, frozen game, and when it unfreezes all other players are replaced by bots and impulse's chat isn't working anymore...

Just another bug? Or should I be actively pursuing other leads to fix this on my end? All required ports are open, my ISP doesn't seem to care about P2P stuff (Can use other P2P programs just fine without any disconnects etc)

Any ideas?

What your seeing is called a "net split". It's the equivalent to a global meltdown in the sense that the "web" of connections holding all the players together simaultaneously collapses on itself, the result being every player disconnecting at once. This often happens in games where one particular player loses his connection to another player for whatever reason, and the entire "web" unravels as a result. Thus are the woes of p2p. The fact that Impulse stops working worries me...Here, try this.

Navigate to Demigod's root folder in your computer. Find the file named ImpulseOverlay.dll, rename it to ImpulseOverlay.dll.org. This will disable your Impulse overlay completely. Try playing the game and see what happens.

I have a simillar issue, however mine usually occurs in the mid-end part of an online game. I'm not sure if everyone is disconnected as well, however I end up in a game without just AI players. Usually there's a significant pause - upwards of 10 seconds - before this happens. I haven't been able to figure out what seems to be the cause of this - however from time to time I'm also experiencing this in single player, however this isn't happening as often since the most recent patch.

I'll try renaming the .dll as suggested and see what happens - it's becoming quite annoying as I getting into a game is hard enough, however I have yet to actually finish one due to this issue.

ZehDon, I've never had it happen in single player. But I get the exact same 5-10+ second pause and then every player in the game is simultaneously booted and turned into bots...

It's very frustrating because around mid game you are just starting to have fun and turn the tide of war if you are losing etc. Then Boom, all AI and you're guaranteed to win. (AI are pathetic..)

I'm curious what exactly renaming the dll file would do, but I haven't tried it yet. No time.

I am having this same problem. Every game I play ends up with me disconnecting from all the other players and I'm stuck playing bots. Usually this happens around the 30-40 minute mark. Anyone have a fix for this yet?

I renamed the file and connected to a game, and I was still disconnected as per usual. However, after I renamed the file back to what it was originally, I tried a different game and was actually able to play all the way through despite taking over an hour. Not sure if renaming the file had much to do with it, but I was certainly very happy.

Also, I've noticed that no matter what game I play I get one or two short pauses, around 2-3 seconds, during the game. I'd call them lag spikes, however the entire game pauses while this happens and it happens every game.

Yes, when I am lucky enough to not disconnect from every other player I still get the exact same lag spikes too ZehDon. It's usually between 2 and 5 seconds or so. And any longer than 5 seconds and I usually get booted.

I am assuming there's a time limit as to how long you can "freeze" before the game boots you from the other players. But I don't have any idea what is causing the freezes or why. It has nothing seemingly to do with my CPU or video card. Everything is usually going just fine and then it will randomly freeze and sometimes boot me from the other players (At which point the game runs perfectly fine the rest of the time)

I play in 1280x1024 resolution, 60mhz refresh, .... I use a Cable modem with Comcast ISP, and a Belkin Wireless router. (But I connect directly to it via ethernet cable)

I wonder if this is comcast's fault... Because I have the same problem.
