Early play for Regulus...

Hey guys, I think im missing something. Regulus suits me down to the ground, I love playing him and towards early endgame I find im totally dominant, but im a lot slower levelling than the 2 people I team with, and even feel a burden at some points. Once i hit level 12 or so I overtake them rapidly, usually going 2 levels ahead before the end after being two levels behind.

I play a rapid fire life leech strategy, its very item depedant though so I find without the items, it kind of sucks. Is there anything glaringly obvious I am missing, is there some experienced Reg players that could offer some advice, I find I am a bit of sitting duck early in the game.

I've not been playing long and I use the Furious Blade as my starting favour most of the time, I find its a healthy dps boost.

I'd really appreicate any information people can give me, I really enjoy the character but I find it VERY hard going in the early levels.

Cheers in advance,

Jazzik

Start with 15% speed favor item for regulus. This will allow you to run when in trouble, and also chase people down while firing shots. The flaw with your build is you are item dependant to kill other DG's....but the way you get items is to kill DG's.

This idea does not work with DG on default settings (normal gold normal income). What you need to do is reverse the way you think and play in that sense and build regulus to kill heroes with minimal items and kill the enemy/deny them of exping as much as possible so your advantage comes from higher level/more cash. You don't need MAX dps in this case to win a game you will win in the end simply from item and level advantage.

For me I max Snipe/mines/mark of the betrayer. Spare points into angel form / tracking bug / range increase.

My personal feeling has always been to build a farm/levelling build early, then switch to kill DG mode after you pump out a few levels.  You are going to be weak the first few levels as Regulus, so I dont even try and kill DGs then unless they are really really bad.  But if I concentrate on being a few levels ahead, I hit the point pretty quickly where I have a slight lead in level and by then I'm at the point where Reg starts getting good.  At that point, I can make up any gold difference fast.
