Hosting saved games not working

Ive been playing soase for a while and recently got a friend to buy it. We thought it would be fun to play together and made several saved games. After a few times, these games become out of sync. Ill be at one planet and he can't see me there. Even when he sent a ship there, he couldn't see my fleet. I did the same thing to him and couldn't see alot of his stuff

we are both on version 1.16. Why?

Earlier versions had a tendancy to go out of sync due to bugs which have now been fixed. If you weren't on the latest version, I was going to recommend upgrading...
