Installing paid software

I installed Impulse, even though I don't want anything to do with it,
just so I could download and install the software I PAID for on my offline computer.
I have registered my products, and hit "download and archive".
I went to the folder and all I see are files with the extension .impulse.
What the hell? If I doubleclick those files on my online computer, which has impulse installed,
all I get is:

"Windows cannot open this file.  blah blah blah,
What do you want to do?
(1) Use the Web service to find the correct program.
(2) Select a program from a list of installed programs."

So if the computer where I installed Impulse cannot even open them,
how the hell am I supposed to get them installed on my offline computer
???

Now you see my reason for the first line of this post.

[EDIT]
This is on a freshly installed Vista Ultimate 32-bit,
my offline computer is on a freshly installed XP Home Premium 32-bit

If you haven't done so already, please email [email protected] and initiate a trouble ticket.  Support are off for the Easter weekend and will return tomorrow (Tuesday).  I will try to pass this on to support as soon as I am able to contact them.

.impulse files need Impulse to restore them, so you would have to install Impulse on that machine to restore the archive.  Sounds like you're looking for this:

Here we go with this whole ball of wax yet again.
And please, nobody take this persoinally, it's not intended as a flame.

Either Impulse or Impulse anywhere require an online connection.
My OFFLINE computer where this software is to be installed is,
yes, you guessed it, OFFLINE...!!!
It is neither rigged nor capable to go online nor will it EVER be online.

I want to install on that machine however,
the current versions of the software I bought and paid for.
I have older versions which I downloaded back then,
and DID have them installed on that machine before I re-installed Windows.
But since through the purchase I am entitled to minor updates,
I wish to install the updated versions.

It can't be that difficult to allow people to download stuff they PAID for,
so that they can install on a machine that cannot go online.
Even if it is by downloading through Impulse on an online computer,
and THEN converting to a file that can be installed,
using a serial number on an offline computer.

So the question still is, where or how can I get the latest versions of the software I purchased,
that I can install on an OFFLINE computer?

I had been intending to purchase WindowBlinds next,
but if I cannot download it to install on my offline computer at home,
what's the point of buying it?

  1. On the impulse anywhere page you will download the latest Impulse and the updated game file on a PC WITH internet.
  2. Copy both to the offline PC (dvd, flashdrive, crossover network, whatever).
  3. Install Impulse
  4. Install the game file
  5. Play.

Actually, it's not games, it's DeskScapes & Cursor FX.

So what you're telling me is,
if I don't install additional software that I do not need to either program,
then I cannot have what I paid for?

If you want to get a [product] that is delivered digitally by Stardock then you need to use Impulse.

You can uninstall Impulse after you have used it to install the [program(s)].

Cursor fx if i'm not mistaken can be downloaded as a .exe file, link should be in the email of products you have bought, you should be able to get the most up to date one by logging in to the stardck account & tick send email or whatever it is for all products you've purchased,as for deskcapes i can't answer since i don't bother with it

EDIT: hmmmm regarding zubaz's post above perhaps it's changed since cfx as that could be downloaded seperately or thru sdc
