Cant even make an account...

Ok so I just got Impulse today for a game I just bought.  I wanted to try out online play and it said I had to make a impulse account... ok, so I tried making one and when I clicked ok I got this...

"Server not responding, please check your interent connections".

I obviously had internet and so I went online to find some solutions to fix this.  I turned off my firewall on both my PC and router to see if that would do it... nope.  I reinstalled impulse with no luck, I have IE7 so that wasnt the problem.  All my windows stuff is updated, and I have no anti virus on my pc either.  Im kinda getting a little ticked off at this program,  I dont see why it wont work and it shouldnt be this hard to figure out if you ask me.  Before you say anything about clicking on the orbs and stuff in impulse, please know I cant even get into the program in offline mode, I dont have an account for it as it is.  So im stuck on the "trying to make an account" window.  I sent an email to stardock support but I would like to get this fixed asap.  If anyone could shed some light here I would be much appreciated.

PS.  My OS is Vista Home Premium 64-bit.
