See it happening?

This would be rather difficult with no items to speak of.

I know!

Items could be technologies!

I thought about that, but you can't limit them so you'd be able to have everything.

OR Items could be spawnable EXTRA ships...like special tecs and al designed around each races strengths!

Tec could have a heavily fortified battlefortress (as top level buy of course)

Advent..mobile shield generator

Phase...Twin barreled phase missile launcher

things like that

How would you implement though? Just about the only thing I can think of is start the player off with some resources, and mimic the Vasari research that gives money from destroying ships. Then have a bunch of dummy buildings to build extra ships.

But here's the main problem: you can't really respawn your ship. You could in theory build a new one and zap it with the Progenitor's ultimate to bring it back up to the same level, but that's pretty clunky.

I don't really think it would work out very well, gameplay-wise?

That is kind of interesting....

I'm assuming that Sins has some type of triggering / scripting language since it can spawn pirate raids, Returning Armada, and the TEC Insurgency power.... and there is something the logic that controls AI's is to work with.

You could create a large number of unique structures that are capturable structures that have a diverse selection of RA like powers that trigger spawns targetted against your opponent much in the way a pirate raid is triggered.  The game would then be about trying to defend your holdings while capturing these triggers to create attacks against your opponent.  Or attacks could launch at regular intervals and depending on who has captured and is holding these locations would determine their victim.

Instead of Heroes, each team would have capital ships with diverse powers and the ability to capture things.   I'm also guessing that players would have some limited ability to build stuff and unlock new structures via tech.

If you want your capital ship to be able to "resurrect" it should be pretty easy.   Your capital shipyard has the ability to make capital ships for free, but you have no way to upgrade your capital supply capacity past 1.  Then you give the capital shipyard the Progen ability to restore level.  If your Hero capital dies, just rebuild it and use the restore ability at the shipyard on it.

Now thats the way I was looking at it!

But ti would be a damn complex mod! Look at Demigod..there making an entire game on that concept ;)

You could also have capturable factories with unique ship types that can be produced for free, but with extremely long recharge times...like 3-5 minutes.   Kind of like a mercenary generator.

Yeah, it would be a very ambitiious mod.  WC3 is tailored for this sort of thing....Sins is a strategy game.  I'm just giving ideas on what should be possible using capabilities demonstrated by the game itself.

I see it happening!

Will probably become bald of all the errors I'll make and frustration and all...but though i will NEVER RESSEMBLE DEMIGOD....it can tend towards it..sins style! ;)
