constant problems with stardock software

Im constantly getting error messages from windows, for example explorer stops working, mail stops working, the computer stops working (the computer is frozen). All this happened after i reneaved my subscriptions to stardock software. Note i somehow got a subscription to impulse when i wanted subscription to stardock central etch.....

This is really startet to bug me a lot there isnt a day that passes without me getting error messages from windows concerning stardock software. I thought stardock was a microsoft partner and this wouldnt happen.

Note either i want to get this problem fixed imediatly or get a refund for my software

you are no good help, and making fun of people who ask for help is not right ;)

ok, Sindri can you tell us which programs you are running? Windowblinds, Icon Package, or CursorXP/FX.., and what are you doing when this "errors" or "problems" appear?

If you are running Windowblinds please copy paste all the text of the "System Info" section at windowblinds theme manager :)

You are sure that these things happen after you've reneaved the subscription to stardock software? Because these error are very common when you take a virus too...first scan your pc with anti-virus or they happen when you have the memory of the pc full too

my first action would be to reinstall the software thats causing the problem, it's worth a try. Impulse is the next generation of stardock central. Use it to download, install and activate all the software you have purchased from stardock. Also try dropping an email to [email protected] including the error messages you are getting and i am sure they will be able to help you out. While ocassionally stardock software does cause problems it's not common and is usually caused by a setting on the users system. I am not suggesting this is whats happening in your case but it may be worthwhile to check that out as well.

Hopefully you can get it all sorted out and start enjoying the programs the way they are meant to be enjoyed :)

Sindri...I agree with Nimbin. Definitely open the ticket with Support. Also, when you uninstall, use Revo Uninstaller. It's free and the best I've ever used. HERE.

Then download Impulse which is Stardock's download and update platform, and put in the email you ordered your software with in the place that appears when you click on the blue question mark in the right top corner. When you close Impulse and reopen, your software should apopear for download.

Also, if you had any of the programs you ordered as free trials, you should use the Revo Uninstaller to uninstall them (and reboot) BEFORE installing your programs through Impulse.

I hope you understood. If not, I'll come back to the thread to check and see if all's ok. Hope this helps in getting you to where you can enjoy the software. :sun:

Nimbin is correct. Impulse is the replacement for Stardock Central as the download manager and updater for Stardock software.

If you were using this software before renewing, simply installing Impulse should not cause these problems you describe.Have you made any other recent changes to your system or installed any new software? Please post your system specs. and give a bit more info as to what is running on your machine when it gives these errors. Also, what security/anti-virus software do you use?

The more info, the better/faster this can get fixed up for you.:sun:

Blackcurtain....only somewhat helpful.....The Support Forum runs under different rules. Please review this sticky post https://forums.wincustomize.com/328594

I've found that one of the main issues with Impulse is security software. Please follow the previous recommendations to uninstall/reinstall. During installations (Impulse & software) be sure to disable any spyware programs/firewalls/anti-virus as one of their jobs is to prevent websites from installing software on your system.

I would NOT suggest disabling the firewall, it can cause you major issues. If Impulse doesn't work well with firewalls, then it's something Stardock need to fix. Windows is NOT safe enough to run unprotected on the internet.

If you're running a computer behind a NAT firewall (such as a router), it should be fairly safe to disable the software firewall. But unless you have the knowhow to recover from any possible infestation, you could end up with your computer rendered useless.

What exactly is Explorer reporting is crashing it?  is there a specific application?  If so, usually explorer crashes are a result of a .dll file being loaded improperly, often times due to it being corrupted.  An uninstall/reboot/reinstall should be enough to fix it.

Impulse is the replacement for Stardock Central.  I wouldn't suggest using Stardock Central anymore for updates/installs.

Truning off a software firewall would be bad (unless, like mickeko said, you're behind a network device that provides firewall capabilities), but sometimes is the best way to diagnose a problem.  Turning it off for a moment to test and then turning it right back on after probably won't cause problems.  It's always a better idea to add exceptions for Impulse.exe though (it will use port 80 and 443 only) than to disable all together.
