I was on a local bus doing my part to be green. That’s only kind of true. Anywho, I was minding my own business when an article of the newspaper being read besides me caught my attention. ‘U.N faults Israel in the war on Gaza.’ I couldn’t believe my eyes, so I nicely asked the man if I could read that section and he said sure. The whole article was about all the atrocities that Israel had done in Gaza all summed up nice, neatly by the Associate Press.
Now, what happened next was not intended for most people on a bus are so caught up in their IPODS, MP3 players, cell/mobile phones that conversations rarely break out. The man next to me saw that this was the article that I was reading and said ‘it’s a shame that innocent people are dying.’ Then the lady behind me chimed in saying ‘Dying to advance an illegally occupation, but we Americans know all too well about illegal occupation.’
I couldn’t keep quiet any longer so I asked ‘So the people in Gaza didn’t deserve any of this?’ They both said in stereo ‘NO! Of course not’ Then the man said that ‘this is all over land. Now to be fair we should give up some land to some random people.’ I then said ‘This is over just land? Who is Hamas? What does Hamas stand for?’ The woman then said ‘That’s something entirely different. Israel has done such horrible things like bombing that U.N school. That’s a terrorist attack.’ Then the man said ‘Yeah, what are ‘freedom fighters’ to one group are ‘terrorists’ to another group.’
I said “That’s not true. First, Israel did not bomb the U.N school. The U.N corrected its story only after a week of lying about it. NO ONE was killed in the school just people outside of the school were killed. There were 43 people killed outside and reports of a Hamas leader being in the area. I have friends who live there and they said the same thing. Hamas does NOT want peace with Israel no matter how much we fool are selves…..’ The man interrupted and said ‘So the media is lying? What do they have to gain from lying?’ I said ‘All they’re doing is pushing an agenda. For example, on July 4 CNN ran a story about how a pizza shop in Chicago was sending pizzas to Iraq. They never told you the whole story about it being the largest re-enlistment ceremony ever. They made it seem like they just needed a taste of home. Secondly, just google Jerusalem Sbarro bombing for this type of violence has been going on for a long time and those terrorist got in through the use of an ambulance. Terrorist go out of their way to attack non-combatants.
