additional problems - wtf

Dear WinCustomize,

One would think it would be advantageous for a client to ensure that their customers were aware of any issues/problems that could occur while changes and upgrades were being put into place.

I’m usually up at 5:30 AM EDT, making coffee, feeding the cat and other general hubby duties. I turn on my computer and go through a series of sites to check the news, weather, gossip and saving the best for last, Wincustomise.

Well both today and yesterday Wincustomise would lock up my browser and I am forced to shut down IE7 via the task manager. I attempted to access the site using my secondary browser (safari) and while you have mentioned that you don’t support safari I was able to get through the front door to the forums before it zonked out.

I’m thinking here that possibly you all could inform the rest of us when maintenance is being performed, how long it will last and when these upgrades will be completed rather than finding out the hard way that the site is in SNAFU mode.

IE locks up for me also and I can't upload anything but in all fairness they have posted the fact that they are updating the site. And i am sure as large as this site is it will take a while to complete.

by posted I assume that you mean in the forums. all and well and I have read these posts also. I'm not really PO'd about this, more of a major disappointment. this type of information should be posted on the opening page with a daily status report.

"we are upgrading our system and unexpected results may occur between the hours of X and X. We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience".

and then let us know when the upgrading is complete. is there something so difficult in providing this type of information?

How would you be able to read that info if you can't get the site to load?

I too had problems loading WC today. But I and most regulars (you included) know already that we are going to have problems for a peroiod.

the site appears to be accessible during normal business hours, like now. I think a status page providing us with downtime schedules is not asking to much and would save some frustration (for me at least) before I have had my second cup of coffee. With the number of posts regarding problems encountered it seems sort of logical to make this type of information available a day ahead of time. geez.

I would like to comment, but as I have not experienced any problems today I can't.  I'm on an XP Home 32 bit SP3 system and I am running IE8.

I do agree that when there are scheduled maintenance/downtimes a notice should be posted.  The have been posted in the past when you go into the forums.  Unscheduled maintenance unforuntunately happens when things go BOOM!  Can't really give a notice when that happens.
