Item Pool, Favour Item Expansions

1. Randomized Items Per Skirmish/Combat

I am more convinced than ever that keeping things fresh in Demigod relies upon varying the available Items in shops.

Items can be balanced well, but if the same items are always available in every game, then every game shall have a similar flow as invariably we players (myself included) gravitate towards the exact same Item purchases/combinations. Deprive me of my usuals on occassion and you shake up things, varying the flow of the game to a considerable extent. Varying that flow is going to be critical to maintaining interest over the long-term (and to shaking up accepted Gold-use paths to victory).

I would have a massive archive of Items in the database, choosing totally at random per game which ones are available in Normal and Artifact shops.

2. Powerful Favour Items/Favour Item Expansions

Right now I have nothing to shoot for in regards to purchasing & acquiring Favour Items. After only a couple of games/contests I have every Favour Item I could possibly want in my grasp.

I would very much like to see a drastically expanded array of Favour Items, including more powerful Favour Items which are a magnitude more expensive in accordance with their power. I could see such Items not being necessarily amazing in specific statistics (?... maybe...) but more remarkable in a broad range of multiple abilities/boosts they provide. On the other hand, who knows?

I want something to shoot for long-term.

But then you'd have to spend too much time looking at the item list to figure out which would be good. :/

And the most powerful favor items are good enough.  The weaker ones just need buffed.

+15% movement speed, +800 hp and +8 regen, tele to base are great.

I would actually prefer it if they removed "something to work for".  I hate games that require me to play a *lot* before I can be competative.  I don't want to have to spend 400 hours playing just so I can have gear that puts me on par with other players.  A title, new character skins, etc. are fine but don't make me play anymore than I want just to be able to have a chance.

micah, it takes only a few hours to get a number of the items.  So long as they keep favor gain and the costs the same as the yare now, they're fine.  They just need some balancing with each other.

Have you actually played the beta?  It doesn't seem like it from your comment.

 

To be clear, I'm saying how it is now is fine.  I think how the topic starter suggests is bad.

Yeah, I have played the beta and bought all the items I want plus have a couple thousand favor sitting around burning a hole in my pocket.  That doesn't mean I think it's a good mechanic though.  Right now the favor is so easy to get there is no point to it.  The problem is that this starts down the road towards more powerful and better items (as the original poster suggested) and soon enough there is a grind to compete.  If you don't want that why not just have the favor items all free and get rid of the favor collection concept?

I think it would be cool if you could get different Demigod skins with favor, or perhaps some in-game visual effect you can set off that would just look cool.

  I originally thought it'd be aweful in the begining,myself.
  But they made it where you get points to spend, rather than the stupid "do this achievement, get this item.", and they aren't very expensive.

  So it's actually nice, because you can customize your demigoda bit for free at the begining of matches.  I like it more than it not being there, but I hope they don't add any items that are more expensive/better than the current ones.

 

  Different skins, which are expensive, would be neat though. To just show you've been playing a long time I guess.  Ones that don't effect stats.
