ATi 4870X2 Crash in windows mode (vista +aero enabled)

Its a long time bug and probably one not GpG fault but rather ATI fault.

IF you have a 4870X2 and you play in windows mode with AERO enabled, the game MAY(its pretty random but not so rare) eventually stall (not responding) and the computer will completly freeze after a while.

The workaround is to disabled windows aero and the problem will never happen.

Could someone at stardock or gpg contact AMD/ATI and discussed about this?

This problem is known to happen in World of warcraft too. 

There are some thread about this on game.amd forum but Its been a couple of month and no fix yet.

im in vista 64. dont know if vista 32 is affectected too.

Only the 4870X2 seem affected.

Just bumping this up.

I really want this corrected. A complete computer freeze because of a Videocard driver is unacceptable.

Posted already on ATI forum but they do not seem to care. Its not the first time I brought this bug.

So I wish Stardock can have a little discussion with ATI about this.

4870X2 cards affected only. (maybe other 4xxx card too. but I cant test)

3870X2 card are ok. so its related to something on the 4xxx series or only the X2 in the 4xxx series.

Just wanted to add that even with aero disabled, we still encounter problem in windows mode. But on myside it didnt crash the system completely. I just had a not responding on demigod window but when aero is disabled, after +-10-15 sec it came back.

With aero, your computer is finished.

I have not done extended testing but it seem this issue is not happening on windows 7.

Like I said no extensive testing done here.
