[Fixed -French Only]Crash when accessing TEC starbase upgrades

Hello, I've been playing sins of a solar empire for a while and was eager to play entrenchement. I played the beta 3 a few time while waiting for the 1.0 release and everything was fine (as far as beta go).

My happiness took a drop when the game crashed at a particular point: when clikcing the TEC starbase upgrade icon, the game shut down. purely and simply, without any kind of bug message. As soon as I click the little blue icon at bottom right, -FOOMP- every shut down and bring me back to my desktop. I'm playing the official french version, from a clean install (I uninstalled sins and entrenchement beta from Impulse, and reinstalled everything) and that bug didn't occured when I tried the vasari, I could browse their starbase option without problem. Is it a bug, or I did something wrong? I just want an answer so i can finally enjoy the game with the TEC. and by the way, that didn't happened when I was playing the beta 3.0...

thanks

Sorry about this ghoner. Please send the dump file to [email protected] and we'll fix it asap. Was the directory completely empty after you uninstalled?

Well I uninstalled from Impulse, so I haven't checked myself, gonna try again and delete everything both from impulse, and then make sure everything is gone and delete manually if needed, then reinstall everything and try again. but how do I access the dump file ? no dump file opened after the crash.

I'm installing now, will check to see if I can reproduce the minidump-less crash.

Well I uninstalled everything stardock related, impulse include, and I'm currently re-downloading sins and entrenchment-french version- we'll see what happen.

Kitkun just tried it before I got a chance to and it doesn't crash.. so whatever it was, it wasn't just the act of clicking the button.

download at 94% ....I hope this was just all a bad joke and that everything will be smooth now...gonna start a quicky again now and see if I can access the starbase option...

Rebooted my computer before resinstalling to get the cleanest install possible, smoothly download and installed sins and entrenchment french

started a quick single game with me alone at x8 speed, and as soon as I got my starbase and try to go in the option, BANG dump-less crash and return to desktop...

I just got a hunch, I'm gonna try install the english version...this kind of funny fun bug possibly due to language happened a few time in Steam too...I'll keep you informed.

Save before hand and see if the crash occurs from the save. If it does, send it to IC.

already tried that, and yeah, the save crash too.

edit: you mean send them the save file itself? where are they?

Send the dump to us. Also, did you manually delete everything in the installation folder after installation?

okay, but where do I get that dumpfile? the game just crash clean without any error message or dump file showing up...

EDIT: what I did Is that--

when I saw the nasty bug was still around, I uninstalled sin and entrenchement from impulse, then uninstalled impulse itself, then went in the c/program file and delete the stardock and stardock games folder, emptied my recycle bin and restarted my computer, then redownloaded the Impulse setup and reinstalled it. From there I loged in with my account, and re-installed sins and entrenchement french. then I fired up entrenchement in french, started a quick game, and it crashed exactly the same way.

THE GAME WORKS FINE IN ENGLISH

apparently the problem lies in the french version of entrenchment. I even loaded the save I did in the french version and it didn't even crashed! So the problem lies somewhere in the language, but Like I said before, the game doesn't show any dump file, so i can't show it to anyone. Someone could just try to install the french version and see what happen?

Until then, I'm gonna play english version. I don't really mind, I just usually like to have my native language when playing my games.

Hmm, the only change between English and French should be the string file? But then, that shouldn't drop to desktop, but give a minidump :/

I guess I would email the save to IC support (email in the first reply) and they can try the French build with the save, maybe they can see.

where are the saves located, by the way? and should I zip it, or it will go through without problems with the antiviruses?

Actually I think they got it fixed now. But just the same, go to Options > Mods > Show Mod Path. The saves are in the same path, only instead of \Mods it'll be folders for saves (SinglePlayer, MultiPlayer, Auto, etc). So yours is in whichever folder that fit the game you were playing.

Zipping is always good since it cuts down on the size as well, and you don't need to include the .stats file, just the .save ;)
