Map Designer Error

Problem after

I downloaded the new beta 3 and sins version 1.14 today. I uninstalled both of the previous versions and then reinstalled sins then the beta 3 like i was supposed to. Ever since i installed the new version of both sins and the beta i can no longer use the map designer in single player in either of the two versions. When i click on Map Designer i get a runtime error that says "this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times. I reinstalled it on a different computer and the same problem occured. I need some help because i always use the map designer.

you have a old map designer map. it needs to be removed from the sins galaxy folders before sins map designer will work. here is the instructions

you have to remove ALL galaxy files older than 20 feb 2009 in

(C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy(32 bit) or

C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy(64 bit)) AND

C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy (xp) or

C:\users\"user name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy).

an alternative is to do a windows search of the hard drives for all galaxy files (ie *.galaxy) then click on more advanced options and put a tick in search hidden files & folders BEFORE clicking on search

hope this helps

Thanks for the advice harpo, but unfortunetly it still doesnt work. i recieve the same error message. I followed your advice and deleted all maps that were created before 2/20/09 (it happened to be all of them) but nothing changed. Do you have any other ideas though? and thankyou for responding so quick.
