What would you think if there were dogfights...

Dogfights

Ok, so i am a huge sins fan, and i love the fighters in the game.  But as i play i notice when the fighters are fighting eachother, they just go back and forth strafing eachother.  thats boring...i mean, they should atleast fly around in circles shooting eachother.

I dont know if anyone has played star wars Empire at War, but i thought their dogfights were kinda cool.

even make it so they circle around their target as well.  instead of just strafing.

for just for more information strafing is a driveby....in a jet..

well then use your programming skills, download the entity files, and create a mod for people to incorperate into their games or do it for yourself

I actually agree with this.

Dogfighting would be great. Don't just go telling everyone to mod it, with that logic Ironclad could have left SINs at 1.0 and told everyone to stop bitching and go mod it yourself.

nice, one there Mooster.

If you target their fighter and the AI or whoever does the same after a short time they will do circles around each other. So the game does techincally have dogfighting.

If you want better than that you might have to MOD it!

Well, i don't know about other people, but I like the way the fighters fight in Sins. Granted, it's not explosive awesome or intense, but at least it's realistic. In Empire at War, the fighters move so slowly that a fighter just passing by could easily pick them off while they're preoccupied. Plus, they;d be cannon fodder for any kind of larger vessel.

Think about it, you'd be flying in a very small, very fast rocket. The best you could do would be to flash by your enemy, and fire off a brief burst. Trying to turn around and circle and stuff would create incredible g forces, upwards of 25 gs in space. Plus, think about modern 'dogfights'. They consist of fighters sitting miles apart, firing autoguided missiles at each other. Now put that in space, were you could be hundreds of miles apart. Would you rather be up close and personal with your enemy fighting, or would you rather blast them from incredibly far away, at alomst no danger to yourself. That sort of thing is best, because not only does it save lives, but also equipment.

But then again....this is a videogame. It's not supposed to be real, just fun.

i dont think dog fights would be good

i means it sounds good and everything but it also sounds like it would be proccessing heavy

and truthfully my computer is already having truble running the game as it is

ya my computer is also having some trouble when the game gets towards the end.  guess dogfights aren't the greatest idea!

As a combat sim flight junkie, all I can say is this, "Get slow, you'll blow!"

Its sounds good in concept.  The main problem would probably be the amount of work the engine would be put under.  Given the number of strikecraft involved in late-game battles, it would be a frame-rate assassin.

Then again, clever programming might be able to make it a purely aesthetic thing - where the fighters dogfight while the damage targeting and the like stays the same.  That might work without killing the engine, and would look really cool.
