Stardock is pleased to announce the release of SkinStudio 6.4.  SkinStudio is an application that is used to create and edit skins, also called visual styles, for use with WindowBlinds.  WindowBlinds 6.4 was released recently, and this SkinStudio release will allow skinners and theme artists to take advantage of the new features in that release.

New and updated features:

  • Support for glass menu bars on Windows Vista
  • Support for a different mouseover image on the right hand side of the Start Menu
  • Control over the background color of the Start Menu "Programs" list
  • Double clicking the top left of a per pixel window will now close it on Windows Vista
  • Control over the search box text colour & font
  • Better control over the Start Menu fonts & colors
  • New section to allow a custom mouseover image used on the "Programs" link on Vista versus the legacy solid color
  • Start button overlay now supports animation
  • Various issues fixed

SkinStudio 6 is a free download, and SkinStudio 6 Pro, which adds many enhanced features is part of the Object Desktop suite, or available stand-alone for $19.95.  There is also a bundle package available which includes SkinStudio 6 Pro, and WindowBlinds 6.

How about clearly stating which of the new features work in XP, which work in Vista, or both. I tried the right side mouseover image in XP and it does not work. X-( Or better yet, how about putting it right in Skinstudio so everyone will know.

It is marked as vista only in SKS.  It should be showing a little icon to the right of the text.

If an item has no icon then it is probably all OSes, if it is the XP logo then it is XP only and if it is the Vista orb then it is Vista only.
