Starting to go nuts...

I am sure I am doing something wrong but after many tries I am starting to lose it... please help if you are able.

I have Gal Civ II DL only:

1.  How do I get the search function of the forum to work?  It always comes back with zero results regardless of the search term.

2.  I have just used impulse to update to the most recent patch and I no longer have the gold edition manual (which I got a long time ago).  It has reverted to the original manual.  Is there a way to download the newer manual?

3.  I have looked for over an hour for a complete change log on the site so that I can see what has been changed since the manual was last released.  Does anyone know where this can be found?

I quit Gal Civ I because I like to know how the game works and there were zillions of changes that I had no idea about and wasn't willing to sift through 1000 posts to find the answers to.  I am about to do the same with this game.  For a game with so many awards it sure doesn't seem very newbie friendly.  Can anyone help me out?  I really want to like this game.

1. It's broken.  Theoretically it works in IE, but it hasn't for me.

2. Interesting.  Why would DL have the gold edition manual in the first place?  Gold = DA + DL, and if you're only playing DL there's no reason to have the DA manual-the spying changes (which were revamped in 2.0 to be more similar to DL, so that's almost irrelevant), the super abilities, the asteroids-none of it matters because none of it is in DL.

3. In the dev journals area of the forums, changelogs are posted, but apart from the most recent updates, they're still hard to find.  There's a history link on applications within Impulse, but it only appears to have the changelogs for the versions that have been Impulse-specific.  It's possible SDC has the information on the rest, but I honestly don't remember.

4. GC2 Wiki

Re 1, you can get pretty good results at any decent web search engine by adding "site:forums.galciv2.com" (without the quotes) to the end of your query.

I got the DA manual at some point while updating DL Vanilla during my first attempt at the game last year sometime.  I'm not sure how though, it just appeared.  Anyway, it's gone now.  I can't believe Stardock wouldn't just post an "updated manual" since they are constantly adjusting their titles.  Anyway thanks for the help.  I will try pecking through the wiki for help, but I think Stardock is shooting themselves in the foot with this oversight.  If I can't be sure to get well organized and updated information, I will be skipping GC III, IV, and V.

5. If you have specific questions, ask, and we'll answer them.

But I'd agree that the nuts and bolts aren't as easily accessible as they maybe should be.
