cake walk is increadable hard early on WHY is it this way?

im playing galciv2 and even though im a newbie, ive had expeince from the first game on easy. but after playing v1.53 on cakewalk it was super hard the ai dreadlords rush to grab other plaents  and my allies grab them before i could.

when i try this on easy it was more of a real beginninger where i could go out and get all the good plaents and build up my economy and my planets quixckly before even the dreadlords could start to attack.

why is it that cakewalk feels so hard while easy is well easier.

Are you talking about a game in the campaign, since you mention the dreadlords rushing to grab other planets? If so, which campagin, what is its title?

"Cakewalk" dumbs down the AI so it should be easier than "easy" unless some other factor (galaxy layout and starting position, race of the opponents, ...) makes a difference between both games you played.

well i think its the 4th mission where the dreadlords only has one world and i have 3 different allies on my team but we got rushed very early in the game

and on easy it was like after 20 turns or so then the dreadlords would rush an invasion

yeah well this mission is a little counter intuitive in terms of AI

the thing is : the dread lords are supposed to be immensely powerful which is why they are so "good" (heavy starting bonuses only in fact)

and the difficulty level defines all AIs including your allies...

so what you probably should do is actually increase the difficulty so that your allies are better able to defend themselves...

well i guest i should give it a try but the dreadlords on insane are going to be very hard for me to take on

This is why people (should) play sandbox first.

The campaign in GC2 is not a tutorial; it's more like a history lesson.

i did play it in sandbox except i never played sucidal before i can handle up to normal but thats pushing it

well going from cakewalk to suicidal is pushing it a little too far too fast I think! :O

I would personnaly try from normal to painful/crippling, paying special attention to "tough" https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Difficulty_level

good luck :star:

thoughjt its funny on sucidal i had a better chance against the dreadlords then on cake walk

Well, as whismerhill explained, this is because on suicidal you suddenly have very competent allies which makes a huge difference :)
In sandbox mode increasing the difficulty will make the game harder for you, don't worry about that.

And that particular scenario is a strange one, in other scenarios harder difficulties will work as expected.

That's actually the scenario that caused me to stop playing the campaign. I don't like just getting into things and having some 'dread hole' idiot stampede in and destroy everything of mine in a turn or two :P.

It was an odd change from levels 1-3 being nice and relaxing to level 4 being "EAT IT YOU STUPID SON !@$!@$!@" kind of thing.
