Mad at Christians? Why?

Fool Me Twice, Shame on Me Again!

if someone tosses a couple thou into the air in a crowded mall, very likely everyone within grabbing reach is gonna try to scoop up as much as possible.

it's hardly their fault if--exactly as anticipated--the resulting confusion slows down whomever is chasing that  generous bank robber.

theyve been scammed.

so were a lotta christians who reacted exactly as anticipated to what's been spun as an impending crisis of 'moral values' by their clergy.

for that matter, it's unlikely the clergy realized they were being used.  after all, the kerry campaign went for the okeydoke, as well.

it doesn't make sense to fight with your co-victims.  it's counter-productive, if nothing else and increases your vulnerability as well as theirs.

if you wanna get mad at someone--besides yourself for not having seen it coming (not like there was anything covert about the issue) or not anticipating the powerful response--get mad at the people who schemed it up.

it's the same old divide-and-conquer thing that's been working since there were three people on earth.

learn a lesson. next time, dont let yourself be mesmerized by swiftboat veterans, debate performances, last minute osama tapes, etc. and buy into it again.

as this president put it: fool me once, shame on me...

kingbee, I agree with you on this one. So many people were used and abused by both sides and one of these days we are all going stop buying into their nonsense. I do blame the leaders of relgious institutions for getting so overtly involved in politics. There are election laws that forbid religious institutions from favoring or being against any particular candidate. If they do so, they lose their tax free status. It is very hard to imagine that telling people a vote for Kerry is a sin stays within the boundary of election laws. I for one would like to see an end to the Pope and others trying to influence the outcomes of our elections. I respect religion, religious choice, and the people's religious views. What I can't accept is their overt desire to turn our country into a religioius theocracy where the only opinion that matters is theirs at the expense of individual rights.

i guess i shoulda clarified my statement about the clergy being duped as well--or expanded on it.  i dont think that local pastors, ministers, deacons, etc. for the most part are aware of their complicity.  they sold it the way it was sold to them.   i do blame the executives of any religious organization who instructed them to violate what the leaders know--or should be expected to know--to be the boundary between offering religious instruction and making political pronouncements from pulpits.  within that subgroup, the most culpable are the self-appointed prophets of the religious right and those party leaders/candidates/consultants whove concurrently seduced and been seduced by them thus enabling them to coopt the republican party.
