Introducing the Desktop Gadgets Gallery

It’s been a while since we added a new gallery to WinCustomize, and today I’m happy to announce the addition of the Desktop Gadgets gallery!  The Desktop Gadgets gallery are for stand-alone gadgets that are created with DesktopX Pro. 

The advantage to these gadgets over widgets, is that they do not require DesktopX to be installed, and can run on virtually any Windows XP or Vista desktop.  The ability to export gadgets like these are well worth upgrade to DesktopX Pro.

So go check out the new gallery, and thanks goes to RomanDA for helping to get the gallery stocked for launch.

Earlier, I thought DesktopX Gadgets gallery already existed. Now, I know It was mixed with widgets gallery.

Nice for it to be highly moderated.

Roman, the clocks I do now, are single clocks to go with a certain walls, and a few other thing's, not like that Nemo Gang clock, that had 8 character as seperate clocks:blush:   lol, where you taught me the toggle trick, I used that, it was great. :)

 

I intend on making more uinique thing's... though for some reason, my Gadgets work on XP and not Vista, any clues on this David? if anyone would know, it would be you!5* :blush:

Install Impulse and reinstall DX on Vista.  Make sure you use the version on vista to export your widgets.

Look at ID's original post.  Middle image.  *That's* a unique clock.  :thumbsup:

C'mon Zu, my clocks arent THAT bad, and I will make more unusual ones, it's just I've been doing what most people would do, if they've created a wall.. you'd want things to match it, clocks is just one thing.. I'm still learning, and trying to improve, which I think, [hope] I have done.:blush:

I don't think your clocks are bad at all.  I think that they are fine adn getting better.  But they are just the same data with different faces.  I'd say the same about a clock whose hands ran backwards.

But the purpose of teh desktopgadgets.com site was for gadgets that were mini-applications.  I see that same purpose for this new gallery.

For me . . it's about coding, not user interface.

From here going forward the desktop gadgets will be more heavily moderated.  The original desktop gadgets site was intended to showcase the best of the best, and what exactly can be done with DesktopX Pro.  Gadgets not deemed for the public gallery will be to personal pages.

ID, some folks want to be able to make semi decent clock Gadgets, are you saying no more clock submissions for Gadgets? I'm not complaining, just want to be clear. :) as David himself said he was making Gadget versions of all his Widgets, and a lot are clocks, very good clocks... and just a note, not all mine are clocks, they are unique living creatures actually.:blush: .

You need to make sure you are installing DesktopX Pro from Impulse, and make sure the latest updates are applied.  ;)

I am not saying clocks or anything isn't allowed, they will just be moderated for quality like the wallpaper gallery.

i was not planning on doing those, more things like the drop info, and some of the older cpu/memory meters revise them to use new wmi calls and not the sometimes-working imbedded functions.

ID, I've had it for years, my husband, when he was still around, got it for me. [Desktopx Pro], but that was 3 PC's, and 10 internet accounts backX| .. actually, it was about the ONLY decent thing he ever did for me hehehe

The Gadgets Gallery will make sense only in one case: it must contain the Unique, Exclusive Gadgets and Master Skins. Or it will looks like other DX Galleries because of a tons of "spam". Then it just will die like DesktopGadgets.com...

So I think it would be great to create some Rules and (or) Criterias for any things which may be uploaded here. Let's keep this place in Purity!

you can always create a zip with your widget and his gadget version then upload this zip under widget's gallery

IF it's clearly indicated in description and on the widget and gadget names.

And IF it's a widget you have already uploaded so edit your upload and don't reupload a new one

The bottom line here is, that the gallery will be moderated for quality as is the wallpapers gallery.  Anything not approved for public gallery will be moved to personal pages.

I have agree with Vadim!
We have some very talented dx-elders,(coders designers) Like Tigg'z,Martin, RomanDa, Vad, Thomassen, gef,sViz, etc.
So dx gadgets gallery would be show what the power of dx ! B)
Other gallery's will be all other dx stuffs, like weathers, calendars, clocks, objects, desktops etc.
Wincustomize users NEED reskinned popular items. :)
So if anyone, who not want to show up own talent of any new scripting , or COMPLETELLY new object, just use widget/object/desktop gallerys. :ninja:

Seems like she have lot of time, and very activ forum member too..

So not just for TG , but for All members:
Please if you made "little different" items , please dont up those , like different skin.
If you made just "same as just other bg" or "just little diff" clocks, weather, calendars, dx objects/desktops, please group those in one zip. Gallery not need  10-20 SAME AS clock/date etc., like different skin.
Because in this way, dx gallery will lost... :(

I've noticed that, too. Sometimes it's listed in the sidebar, and then later it's gone. I've cleared my cookies, and as of this post, the link isn't there.
