Generals Minions should gain XP for thier general and should give XP

At the moment one of the biggest gameplay issues that us RTS players have is that there is no reason to split off the minoins from the generals.  They are not strong enough to kill towers or assasines without thier general, and they shouldn't be.

There would be a reason to split off the minoins if they could gain XP for thier general by killing creeps.

To balance this out, the minoins should give XP to whatever kills them.

The generals would have the advatage of being able to gain XP from unoccupied lanes but if an assasin comes into one to those lanes it is a nice XP target of him.

Don't minions already give XP to whoever kills them? Since its inspired by DOTA, I would expect leaving your summons behind to die a bad idea since the other team would get free xp and gold.

Currently they do not give any xp or gold.  I believe I have seen this mentioned a few times by stardock in forums and irc channel.

Idol Minions and Special Minions should not give either Gold or Experience to their slayers lest the benefit of their utilization be completely thwarted by the advantage gained in their slaying - you wouldn`t want to summon merely a larger XP pool for your foes.

This occurred to me long before the newest beta, as I pondered the circumstances in which a General would *want* to summon Minions. And we do want Generals to summon Minions. I submit to you that the inclination to do so would disappear if we rewarded foes for their dispatch.

A General already currently must spend valuable Gold to acquire Idols which allow summoning. Very expensive, as they should be. Generals must then also expend substantial Energy from their Energy pools to execute the summoning, drawing away from their ability usage. Generals must spend much time to summon their Minions in groups, as they cannot summon them all at once. Adding onto that the pariah of bestowing XP and/or Gold to the enemy upon their deaths is far too much; the Minions are useful, but not that useful.

I agree they need to give xp not so big to be an xp pool but when u spam them the slayer must get something as reward. they have good hp and if u kill them u dont win anything

I strongly disagree.   In Demigod, my minions (especially the yetis) can break off from my general all the time to take out a tower.   I run my general back to heal up, and they often are still alive by the time I get back.   (unless there is an enemy general or AoE assassin)

WarlokLord they would give the enemy more exp yes, but they would also give their general more exp. It's adding an rts element to the game. You must now micro your minions so they aren't killed, and only kill.

Hmmm. Queen Of Thorns, Rook, TorchBearer, and Regulus all have the ability in one usage to annihilate almost any special Minions you can summon. I don`t believe micromanagement could thwart that. I am skeptical.

Don`t special Minions already give their controller experience for their kills? Not sure...

As for Yetis being on their own versus structures, yes, but lets not forget how reliant & focussed Sedna is on her entourage. If anybody can leave 8 Yeti-like/Yeti-tough creatures on their own for a period of time, its Sedna.

.

Counter-proposal: if you bestow experience for the slaying of a Demigod`s special Minions, then reduce the experience bestowed upon the slaying of that General him/her/itself. If the General is on their own, one ought then to benefit less from the slaying, as they are - without posse - less capable. And if they are not less capable bereft of such a posse, then I submit to you the special Minion system is broken. (Though that is not the point of my counter-proposal...)

Yes the XP gained from slaying a general will probibly need to be reduced to balance this out.  The XP gained from slayng the generals minoins will also be very low because they are so weak.

Currently the generals minoins do not give thier general XP.

I am confident that the issues brought up could be avoided by the proper balancing.
