[MOD HELP]Trade and Refining

Anyone know how they work?

JaggedSparFel and I are planning a mod that reworks the trade and refining system in Sins, making players more dependant on trade and refining to fuel their war machines, and also allowing tactics like raiding to play a larger role instead of just spamming frigates and hoping you have built more than the other guy.  Unfortunately, from what we have found out so far, you generate trade income regardless of how many trade ships you have or what their capacity is, it is simply the trade port sitting there that generates the trade income.  We were wondering if anyone on these forums knew:

 

1.  Whether or not you can disrupt trade or refining by blowing up the ships.

 

2.  Whether or not trade and refining ships can be made to cost resources when spawned.

 

3.  Whether a monetary bounty can be awarded to a player who blows up trade or refinery ships.

 

4.  Exactly how trade and refining work codewise in Sins.

I'm pretty sure most of this is locked down. I've been trying to create independent neutral trade stations and have had no luck. The monetary bounty thing can probably be done, though, as there's an Advent (iirc?) ability that makes it so a player loses credits when they blow up trade ships. I haven't played base sins in a while so this might not be 100% correct.

Na, the Advent thing applies bounty, as in pirate bounty, to whoever blows up their trade ships.  I really hope that trade is moddable so I can introduce commerce raiding as a viable strategy and hopefully reduce frigate spamming as the only viable tactic.

 

Most likely I'll just make trade ports and refinieries take up a lot of slots, be expensive, generate more income, and be fragile as hell.  And I'll probably do something with populations, pop growth, and tax income so a few siege ships that sneak by will really wreak some havoc.  And yes, defenses will be buffed to compensate for these weaknesses.  Hopefully ManSh00ter can hurry up with his planet pack too.
