symbaloo (start simpel)

the first decent startpage with skinning abbilities

http://www.symbaloo.com/
symbaloo is a startpage where you can create multiple online desktops for your favorite browser, ad weblinks (shown as cubes) wich you can symply move around with drag and drop.the resoution off your screen doesn't matter since you can add or remove horizontal and vertical rows. the desks: a utility desk with a calculator and a google search, tanslation, dictionary and so on. a news desk with the abbility too choose which categories and how many articles to display. there is also a rss feed desk. these are all standard prebuilt for your comfort but you can alter and delete them or mix them if you want. you can make an empty desktop where you can add your own links or links advised by symbaloo, but its easyer to install the symbaloo bookmarker so that when your on a site you can press the bookmarker button and its added to your desktop last used. now and this is the skinning part, you can add pictures to your links. like replace the youtube icon with one from the objectdock library.

Sort of OK but crappy for non US stuff like weather and sport. Then it went off air, with message >> formLoginErrorNotVerified

Did not want to add links to certain stuff like Stardock and Wincustomize, default of colour squares a la 70s disco dance floor is ugly and too busy to stay calming, especially with the oversize Google thing.

Yahoo home is more fun and better laid out for configuration in all countries than this but anyway a homepage life coach is not really my thing just yet. Thanks for the link.

yeah might even be worth a new section in wincustomize, instead of icons for software they can make png's for websites.

the news feed will be available from different feeds once it get's out of beta. and you can upload custom images so no need to use ugly colour squaresa la 70s disco. the oversize google thing is the center of any cube selected and changes when you click another cube. it is only that desk that has the center used for that.

Ah, beta.  Lets see what things are like once it gets out of beta.

Does seem to bel busy for a desktop though and just where do I put my ObjectDock Plus docks or other desktop widgets and objects or DesktopX Themes?  How does this fit in with Stardock products.

Can you post a screenshot of your desktop that has both so some of us can get a better idea of what we would be seeing?
