Cannont load maps or mods

I've downloaded serval maps and mods and placed the maps under program files and sins of solar empire galaxy folder but every time i start a new game i cannot find the map's name or anything of a new map. The same goes for the mods, i went to settings and it gave me the directory, when i went to it i couldnt find it so i made a folder following the exact directory and put the mods their...still nothing showed.

 

my SoSE version is 1.12

The maps may be from an older version of the game; to make them appear in the latest you should only need to open them in notepad and change the version at the top of the file to 2.

For the mods, what is the exact path you're using? If you had to create a mods folder yourself, it's probably the wrong place.
