Oh no, not terrorist in New York again!!!!

This was one of the first things I imagined some people in New York were thinking when they saw a U.S. Airways airliner crashing into the Hudson River today (Thursday). Everyone survived the crash that is believed was cause by bird smashing into 2 of the planes engines while taking off from la Guardia Airport.

I can only imagine the people inside the plane who thought "this is the end" since surviving an airplane crash is not exactly a common thing on the news. I am glad everyone survived but feel bad they were forced to jump into the freezing waters of the Hudson River during one of the coldest months of the year in New York. I should know, I lived in Jersey City and know just how could it can get in January.

New York just doesn't seem to have luck when it comes to planes.

Terrorism? If that's the first thing that comes to your mind when something like this happens, then the terrorists have accomplished their goals, at least as far as you're concerned.

New York had PLENTY of luck (and skill, and courage, and heroism) in regards to this plane crash, Charles.  They probably had a bit of divine intervention as well, as this is the ONLY water landing involving an aircraft of that size in history that produced zero fatalities.

Kudos to the captain and everyone involved in the rescue and recovery operation.

Glen Beck was very maudlin today, talking about the string of coincidences that had to occur for this to happen.  And of course he was talking about what Miracles are made of.  But we often dont see that, just the amazing coincidences.

Miracle or a one in a billion set of coincidences, I think the flyers are thinking only one thing today.

"Thank God!"

Maybe you misunderstood the point. Or maybe you ignored it on purpose. But that doesn't matter, considering not only did everyone survive the crash but the plane itself was nearly intact, something not common with plane crashes, it's obvious this was part luck, part skill and maybe even a littl bit of divine intervention, but again that was not my point. I don't think I have to truly point that out do I?

Perhaps, but one can not deny that seeing a plane go down in New York does bring back 9/11 memories. I'm glad you're mentally strong enough to resist terrorist influence, if we were all the same this would be a really dull existance.

Ditto.

Just allowing the thought that any event like thias could be caused by terrorist shows that terrorist have already reached their goal of instilling terror in the hearts of some of Americans. This is very bad.

Yes it is. I find it hard to believe that anyone would believe every American would somehow be immune to this. Sure, we should be strong, we should resist, but we are only human. To come down on someone because their mind does not have the power to resist the temptation of remember something like 9/11 when we see something similar to it is wrong as far as I'm concerned. We have the right to feel fear, it's what we do afterwards that counts.

As usual I don't seem to get the responses I would expect. Not that it's any surprise.

I thought it did. I even made sure it did. Guess I failed. <_<

Maybe you should try to understand intstead of trying to be understood.

Maybe you're right.
