After downloading mod?

So after I download a mod how do I use it on SSE?? theres that one place in-game where it says in options "mods" and you can select ones you want to use...

You have to put the mod files into ..C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods\MODNAME (for XP)

In the game the name of the mod will be the folder name MODNAME.

Vista: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods

 

In the install directory there is a ReadMe that explains how to use mods, it's essentially exactly what posativ just wrote.
