The game don't start...

I've got a little problem, when I host a internet game with bots and press the launch button I get to the loadingscreen but the game doesn't start. I've waited for 5mins but nothing more happened so i closed it down. My computer is running windows xp professional (swe) and all xp updates are in. Got avast running at the same time but that shouldn't matter. Anyway it gets to the line "DEBUG: Loading module '\000/lua/sim/ai/aistattracking.lua\000'" (used output log to check it) and then nothing happens. I've bought it yesterday and havn't got it starting at all since i can'join other games or host myself. Sitting on a lan at the moment so i'm behind loads of switches and routers, prolly a nasty firewall too but that shouldn't keep me from starting a game with a bot, right?

Please help, I really want to try this game out!

Thanks in advance!

see if you can join a proper MP game (one without bots).

that'll tell you/us if it's just a connection thing (remember that a game with yourself and bots still counts as MP) or something else.

if it happens to be something else, then i'd just suggest archiving DG, uninstalling it, and re-downloading. unless there's bandwidth issues, but i doubt that as you're in Europe, not Australia.

I've tried to join a proper MP game at home but I only get to the "Trying to connect" window so it's probably a connection thing... Don't really know what it could be thou.

Does Impulse need to work properly to play Demigod or is it just needed for downloading, installing and updating? Cause Impulse only works half of the times...

Impulse is only needed to download/update.

i'm no network monkey, but i think it's a router/forwarding issue. have you tried moving your computer to the DMZ?

I doubt it's a forwarding issue since I've been at Klippanlan and I had no problem hosting other games there. And by the way in the demigod logfile it say

"info: Creating connector on port 6073
info: LOBBY: Game port 6073[UDP] opened.
info: LOBBY: starting with local uid of 12645 [iSnitch]
info: CVP: entering lobby state.
debug: Loading module '\000/lua/ui/controls/mappreview.lua\000'
info: MUSIC : Activating cue [Lobby]
info: Creating game on port 6073"

But i'm no networkmonkey either so I don't really know. Thanks a lot for the help anyway, I've send a mail to the Stardocksupport and I'll hope they can fix it.

Well I asked about it on mIRC and it seems to be the "ä" in "lokala inställningar"... The question is, can I change the name and get winXP and Demigod to find it without having to reistall winXP? And by the way, I was able to join a network game today but I got to the loadingscreen and then nothing happened.  "Lokala inställningar" would be something like "Local settings" in the english version of winXP.

I found the solution in this thread http://forums.demigodthegame.com/323093. Demigod can't handle special caracters, like "åäö" for example, and demigod installs by standard some files in the local apps folder, "C:\Documents and settings\iSnitch\Lokala inställningar\Application data\". Anyway the solution is quite simple, do as explained in post #14.
