Audio quality is getting worse and worse! What's the point?!

A rant about sound

Ever since CDs came out the tapes and the records have been disappearing. Why? Because CDs are supposed to last longer... But is it worth it? Tape quality is great, it's some of the highest quality audio you can find! Tapes are small, pretty inexpensive, and pretty easy to make too. So why are they dissapearing in favour of compact discs? Because discs are more accurate? Well they aren't! Think of sound like light. A tape is like an iridescent lightbulb, and a cd is like a flourescent bulb. The iridescent bulb spreads a warm glow across the room, it's inviting, and it's soft. The flourescent bulb is a hard detailed light. it lights the room, it exposes every detail, but it also exposes every small break or problem. A cd is very detailed but it's sharp and harsh, while a cassette is warm and kind. This is the reason that I am glad of the direction that Computer audio is going. The new Audigy 2ZS soundcards are closer to analog than ever before. I know because I have one and it has improved my computing experience infinitely. The same must be done with CDs. DVDs are a step in the right direction, as the use the same resolution of audio as the 2ZS cards. This rant doesn't really have a beginning or an end, but I'm going to stop it there so that I don't ramble on forever.
