Multiplayer Desynchronization

I did not see any other post about this, but excuse me if there is. I have played the original sins with a friend of mine for some time, and now we have played entrenchment twice together. Both times we have played, we seem to experience a de-sync at a somewhat random point. It usually happens right around the epitome of technology and when we've placed numerous starbases (leave us alone, we like turtling). There is no warning of this desynchronization, we just suddenly figure out that we are no longer quite on the same page as one of us rushes to defend the other and they have no idea why.

When it happens, we both continue playing none the wiser, but seemingly in our own individual worlds. For example, I will have taken over half of the map and on my screen my ally is either laying around doing nothing or making pitiful attempts to attack. Then one of us will ask each other why the other isn't doing anything, and it turns out they have already taken over half of the map themselves, and it is the other person getting destroyed/sitting around. Very odd. This has never happened before the beta, so I can only imagine that is the culprit.

I just wished to add, we can play rounds that last 3 hours with 6 insane AIs going at it, so yeah. We have the whole shebang going on in a full universe when this bug usually kicks off.

The same thing happened to us.  A friend and I were playing against 2 AIs.  Somewhere along the way the game got desynced and my friend got ahead time wise.  He would say that an enemy fleet was attacking him and a few minutes later it would show up.

When he attacked a planet and colonized it I was still in the middle of attacking it.  He colonized it with his progenitor and I colonized it with my Junra (I think that's what they are called).  However, when I built a capitol ship yard in my version it showed up in his as being owned by him, however it had the model for my race's (vasari, I think) capitol ship yard and not his (the advent).  We could trade resources with each other but the bounty was off.  It was pretty crazy.

I fixed my broken english. I had been up for some time when I wrote that. Nine hours of Sins after your last college final will leave you a bit light-headed, heh heh.

I am glad to know it's not just us. However, it really does take away from the enjoyment of the game when we are both suddenly playing - essentially - single player games where we can chat and trade resources. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

So you say these desyncs happened in the Entrenchment beta?

Your best bet, if you have them consistently, is to email [email protected] and let them know that you can get consistent desyncs, and ask for what settings to change in your user.setting file for the game to spit out sync logs that you can email back (both you and your friend) so they can track the cause.

They'll walk you through how to set up the logging and such.
