Problem Running Galactic civilizations II

Hello,

I just bought Galactic Civilizations on this weekend. I was very happy about the way everything worked, until I tried to start the Program. I can choose my race and stuff, my opponents and everything. then, on click next, I get to the Load Screen. suddenly the game terminates. My pc is way good enough for this game so I am a little bit statled. Maybe this is a known Prblem, I am sorry, I can't give you any more information, for I have none.

Thank you for help

What hardware are you running it on? Are your video drivers up to date?

If uninstalling, restarting, and reinstalling does not clear the issue you can always send in the debug report to [email protected].

It is found after a crash in: C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2\(which ever expansion you are on)

I would say post it here but the message is just too long for something like that.

My drivers are up to date.

  • AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000
  • 1 GB RAM
  • Geforce 7800 GT

Should be sufficient. I will send the report to Stardock, think this is the best way.

Thanks anyway for the quick response

Hey I installed this game and am also having problems which I think we reported when this game first came out a couple years ago, ie, that the planets are spinning wildly on the information screens and eventually when playing and scrolling to the edge of the screen, the game freaks out and the camera shoots around in space.

I have a dual core AMD with the latest video drivers for a NVIDIA 9500 GT card and my machine is very powerful for all other games. Is there anything else I can do?

Also when I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, now on the main menu the button for Tutorials is grayed out and I can't use it.

You might have an old AMD Dual Core issue from a while ago. I jump to this as it is an old error you are getting.

There were a few updates that came out for the processor through AMD. If you are on XP get the second to last download and apply it. The 1.3.2.0053 dated Sept 2007.

The AMD update is found here;

what does this application do or how do I use it? I installed it and nothing happened - there is no program to open... or does it just work in the background somehow? thanks for your help

I also now have a new problem since yesterday: the planets and ships don't appear on the main interface, just little icons.

this is sad that a 2-year old game is tripping up my powerful new computer which runs every other game beautifully... pls help!

Try the following;

   1. -Click on Start, Run, then type "regedit.exe" and click OK
   2. -on windows XP 32bits, Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\Galciv2
   3. -here you should find a String value named "Language" with "English" as Data
   4. -if it's blank fill it with "English"
   5. -if it doesn't exist, right click then select New, String Value and name it "Language"
