OnOwnerDeath instant action...NEED HELP!

OK so I got all my tankers and stuff online..Awesome vessel that grants massive speed boost but explodes in a gigantic ball of fire when blown up..so be careful when you bring him in!!! Its a double-bladed weapon!

Now I'm doing the salvager..ie a vessel that gathers credits from destroyed ships...and the question is is their only OnOwnerDeath instant action trigger for a buff or is their also a OnTargetDeath?

Cus I'm at a 4-5 buff long chain and though the ability is given to all vessels in range...the money boost does not apply when vessels are destroyed and vice-versa when I shorten buff chain!

Question! WHAT IS MOST EFFICIENT WAY TO APPLY BUFF TO TARGETS ALL AROUND THAT WILL GIVE CREDITS WHEN THHHHHEEEEEYYYYY DIE???? Any insight on this?

the only thing i can think of that werks on a specific target's death is experience gain. See if you can reword the experience gain string to do some ability.

or you can do like was suggested to me, when the ship reaches a certain percentage of damage it will autocast a DOT buff on itself and do enough damage to explode, then have an ondeath trigger to spread the resources.

I dont want THE SHIP to blow himself up..I wan thim to cast the ability on other ships and when THEY DIE of NATURAL DEATH (ie missile, phase or other ability,etc.) they give us ressources...

but my salvager is up and running now ..so I guess we can drop this :D   unless you plan on making your own.

What if you used the pirate ability "steal income" and make it only useable right before the enemy dies.

Yeah his idea was that say at hull 5, where the ship is so close to death it will die anyways (99% of the time) just make it blow itself up and send out resources.

Ok, I have made this ability

 

Here is what I did.

First, the ability has "applybufftotargetsinrange"

The targets being the ships you want to salvage

The buff "AppliesBufftotarget" "OnOwnerDeath"

The Target being an allied vessal, with a range slightly larger than the original ability

That last buff than has the "Gainreasources" line "like from BuffDrainPlanet(something)

 

I've done this, it is quite succsefull.

Dont worry thats the exact way my ability was working before...only thing was I considered resources to be credits so I never checked Metal and crystal..its only today that I saw those two figures go up instead of credits! *slapped myself in the face at such blindness.

Wasted 10 hours trying to perfect it...but oh what the hell..I still managed to do bunch of other stuff!!! MMMMMMMMMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! DEEP SPACE CONSTRUCTION DRONE!!! AND STARBASES!!!!

I own entrenchement without even having the game yet ;)! LOL

A few people have. Things like missile platforms (TEC BS Carrier) ability and planet bombardment abilities are just frigate spawns with 0 speed and a time limit.

 

So all you'd have to do is create an ability that references a frigate.

And Yes Tkins is exactly 100% right!!! All you change is the name of the ship spawned and bingo!!! You got yourself a ship factory! Turn the ability cost into resources, add it to any ship!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

It should work exactly the same, the coding is just reversed.

 

Justin and I have been able to come up with some pretty unique ways of solving some modding ideas just by reversing them or taking different angles.

 

(OK to be honest usually Annatar just does it for us, but we've done our fair share of solving them with our imagination hahaha)

What do you mean ANNATAR!!!!! my stuff is 100% ME ONLY!! Like in all my questions, I ask Annatar for possible way around or what not..but only after I spend 20+ hours on a single ability and cant seem to get it to work!

He doesnt do NOTHING for me...he very kindly gives guidelines! I DO THE REST ;)
