Modding Expansion Capabilities & Some Other Questions

I have some questions about how expandable Sins is.

  1. What is the maximum number of frigate types each race can utilize? It appears to be limited to 18 by the UI (9 light, 9 heavy).
  2. In the player entity files, I notice a "page" label in the list of buildable frigates... does this imply that multiple "pages" or additional ship type groups can be created?
  3. Same questions as #1 and #2 for orbital structures.
  4. How hard is it to determine how the AI will perform with new units/structures/abilities/etc.?
  5. Does the number of Trade and Refinery ships affect the income from Trade Ports/Refineries?
  6. Does anyone with a copy of 3DS Max have a set of converted Sins ship meshes in XSI format they would like to share?

Thanks!

I would like to know the answers to these as well.

Also, you can browse through this thread I've started and ask questions there too. Maybe you'll find some answers to future questions or be able to help me out.

1) Yep, 18 between frigates and cruisers.

2) The two pages are for frigates and cruisers, that's how it differentiates :)

3) Yes and likewise the pages are for logistic and tactical buildings.

4) Until you try it? Hard. As a general rule of thumb, the more weird you make it the more likely the AI is not to like it. Most straight forward stuff is just fine.

5) Yes, each ship has its own cargo capacity for carying the stuff.

1) Yes only 18 frigates and 8 cap ships max!

2) page 0 = first frigate tab

page 1 = cruisers tab

Cap page = cap ships!

3) Same answer as 1-2!

4) Trial and error!!! Test games..and more test games..or by just going into the entity file and giving the Ai role of the unit (ie. Lrm..basic frigate, etc...) and the ai use of it,etc!

5) I cannot answer that...but from my guess yes! it also shows if you ahve a very develloped economical trade routes

6) Not yet ;)
