Ship and game speed in v1.1

I got to enjoy two games last night in v1.1 and all I can say is...wow!  Fast speed really is fast!  So what's the deal with the game speed now?  Is the new "Normal" the v1.05 Fast?  I guess I like the new Fast speed but I can see how it could be hard to manage lots of action.

I've noticed this too.  I fired up a twin empire game and for the first time it was a solid 4v4 with each team on opposite sides of the map.  YES!!!    When i fired it up to 8x speed it appears to run quite a bit faster.  Graphically speaking is appears that the game is running smoother and faster.
