Impulse problems

The first time i installed Impulse my virusscanner warned me for a Trojan. Because im one of those people, customer since 'Total gaming network', that like to play games and dislike to play with the computer, i immediatly removed 'Impulse' from my drive. After that live went on as usual with the Stardock platform.

2 weeks ago i tried to install the new patches and realized that 'Impulse' was the only way of making that happen. I installed 'Impulse' again. The updating of the 3 GC stopped more ore less halfway. Then there was a message 'Network' problems. On regular intervals i tried again, without succes. Then i visited the forums. The solution: turn off the Virusscanner. I did, the updates installed.

I dont like companies forcing me to disable VS and i also dislike companies that think customers dont see the marketing trick thats behind all the new and shiny for which nobody asked. GC will stick on my hard drive but for me it stops with Impulse.

I hope more old customers make a stand against ingnorant marketeers to stop this kind of BS.

From what I understood SDC is a very patched up application, which requires too much work for several new applications or updates released...
Impulse is a project rewritten from scratch... of course it's actually too young, but its scope is well beyond what SDC could ever achieve(still from what I understood)

Also Virus Scanners are not GODS
yeah it's true ! they are VERY VERY FAR from being perfect
don't trust me ? ok fine but have a look at this : http://www.av-comparatives.org/seiten/ergebnisse_2008_08.php
as you can see for yourself, none of the Virus Scanners involved are able to achieve a "none" on false positives ...
there's also the latest retroactive test here : http://www.av-comparatives.org/seiten/ergebnisse_2008_05.php

So... what does this means ?
this means that it's not because your virus scanner says that impulse is a trojan, that it really is one
and it's not because your virus scanner interferes with impulse update system that it's impulse fault
Heck, a few month ago I remember seeing Microsoft Word being flagged as a virus by some virus scanner ...

ho and lastly, for anyone reading this, av-comparatives is a nice website but there's other parameters than pure virus scanning speed & results which should be taken into account before choosing an antivirus over another.
