WinStep Extreme: Windows 7 Beta Taskbar

Coming very, very soon (this month) in WinStep Extreme 8.11

http://www.winstep.net/news.asp

Well, thinking that app posted on dA (iconizing the taskbar in Vista to emulate W7) was cool I wrote to Jorge Coelho to suggest something like this be included in WSX.

Needless to say, in the Beta I downloaded from winstep.net (you have to have the software installed) Beta testing site it already exists!

The external link will show you how it looks (vid)!

I'm so grateful and happy I got it during the discount!!!

Thank you, Jorge!

Yep, I'm interested... very, very interested, in fact.  I just noticed the thread and went straight over to Winstep to take a peek... WOW, WOW and double WOW

Simply put, Winstep Xtreme is very hot and even more of a great app than ever, it's fantastic stuff!

Thanks Doc and Jorge, this is an excellent development to an already excellent app.

It's true, Starkers. I love WC and SD products as well as the Community.

That said, While this is slightly OT, I find WSX to be an incredibly powerful and underutilized UI customizer. I wish the tutorial section there was stronger and the customizing tutorial to be more updated. Also, Winwiki isn't much help in this respect.

Thanks for noticing the post, and I'm glad you found it interesting to some degree.

Saw the vid last week.  Waiting on JC to need more "testing" done  :D

I'm using the Beta release now, no problems....It's like having this blend of several apps.

I made a guggestion regarding the new user interface i.e. to add a "Wallpaper" tab and a "Cursor" tab so that the new UI could unify several aspects of customization through one "dashboard". I'm a "lumper" when it comes to unifying apps, I guess.

Thanks for visiting the thread, Zubaz. I know that several (and I hope more than just several) folks picked up on the discount which was featured on WC and I'm trying to get those folks to visit the WSX Forums as well as WC's...especially great skinners like WebGizmos.

Didn't notice it before because it is on the side of the forum and not in the main section... but yeah, I found it most interesting indeed.... and I'm liking your ideas regarding walls and cursors as well.

With an OD subscription running and Object Dock plus, things like this makes me want to cry. :p

What to do, what to do... What would I gain, what wiould I lose? :p

It should be released with WB compatibility :)

Why cry? WB and WSX are completely compatible and I run both simultaneously w/o conflicts.

Enjoy! ;)

Hmm, seems like they both do pretty much the same thing to me? I'll try it out and see. :)

While there are some similarities, WSX has unique features that are not only compatible with Stardock apps, but also compliment them as well... and with the new taskbar features, WSX is going to be one mighty powerful suite of apps with great functionality as well as looks.  I've been running it close to 3 years now and, while I still love my Stardock apps, I would not have a desktop without its convenience, functionality and usability... it's too great a pleasure to use.  So yeah, try it out and fiddle around with it, you'll wonder why you've not done it before.

I can't really add to starkers but WSX really does things a bit differently fron WB. I say download both trial versions and use them independently and then try them together...

I wouldn't be without both...Who knows? Maybe Mr. Coelho will port Messiah1's "StealthOS" for us and then....yum!

I've installed the trial, and it looks real nice. I'll toy around and see what I can make out of it. I'll definitely port Zing! for it myself if it's worth the trouble (strictly personal use ofcourse, and unfortunately ;) )-

Hurummmph! After all our efforts to help? Better do StealthOS!

Before you do zing for anyone...you should ask JJYing's permission. Just a friendly suggestion.

There are lots of skins to port, and most artists would consider it a compliment...especially if you ran it by them before making it and making it "public". WC won't put it in a gallery w/o a permission from the original artist...although you probably know these things...

Always best to read the rules and ask a Mod if in doubt.

Have a good Thanksgiving!

Nah, since I find asking for permission too much hassle, I don't do public porting. :)

You can't go resting on your laurels now... first off you can get the inside info on when WSX 8.11 is going to be released publicly; and secondly, list all the functions and features here...

just in case there's some I missed. O:)

Seriously, I am so looking forward to 8.11 and messing around with the new taskbar features, they look absolutely fantabulous.

Much kudos to Jorge and the Winstep team.

Thanks for the heads up on the beta, Doc, I went over to Winstep several times and didn't it... obviously not looking in the right place.

Will install it now and get back with my thoughts later... hmmmm, a new toy, hehehehahahahehahehaheheheha. :)

Yep! Can't wait for any updates!

Well yeah, ME likes it a lot... the interactive thumbs on the taskbar are great and simplify viewing/opening/closing windows from the taskbar.

Yup, I'm mighty impressed.... fantastic job Jorge, you've excelled on this edition.
