DeskScapes for XP - Almost Here!

Animated Wallpapers for XP!

In case you missed it, Frogboy posted what I think is the first public image of DeskScapes for XP.  It won’t be long until Object Desktop 2009  is here, and XP users get to enjoy the animated wallpapers that Vista users have had the great pleasure to enjoy all to themselves for the last year or so.

You don’t have to wait until later this month to get Object Desktop 2009.  You can subscribe now and get access to all the other great applications now, and receive the updates as they are released!  Visit www.objectdesktop.com for more info.

Can you give a bit more information on DeskScapes XP? Things like system requirements and performance statistics would be great to whet our appetites.

It's not available yet.  It will be available for Object Desktop subscribers soon.  :)

I should point out that you will need a DirectX9 capable graphics card.

What is the easiest way for someone to find out if they have a DirectX9 capable graphics card?

One way Philly would be to open your My Computer properties/hardware/device manager/display adapter.  That should show the graphics card or on-board video you have.  I just did a google search that said"nvidia Ge Force 7300GT directx 9 compatible?" and got the answer in the first couple of hits.  If it is then download the newest directx and install.  Hope this helps somewhat.

Does it support dual monitors? Can you have one dreamscape on each monitor?

Multiple monitor support is a funny thing.

On XP video dreams are limited to the primary screen only.  This is for technical reasons.

But dynamic dreams can support multiple screens if they have been updated to support it on XP.  Any of the dreams that I have been involved with should be updated and live on the site before the OD 2009 launch.  Some of the dreams have also had a number of tweaks and improvements based on user feedback.

I have been told the other dynamic dreams will be getting multiple monitor support on XP at some point after the OD 2009 launch.

So the ones which will support multiple monitors on launch day are Ovals, Expanding Shapes, Winter Snow and Photo dream.

Will we ever support different dreams per monitor?  Perhaps in the future.
