Lagging

Lagging

One of the main things that ruins a multiplayer game over ICO is lag.  This is especially a problem when playing people from distant locations who don’t have good connections to the ‘net.  Looking at the ‘latency’ rating of the player before you start seems useless as most seem to show zero, or very low.  However once the game starts looking at the network (in options) gives a more realistic view of the situation.  Why cant this information be available before the game starts?

I have played other games (‘TA Spring’ for example) where an accurate rating of the ‘ping’ of a hosted game was available before you joined & individuals rating were displayed up front too.  Processor speed & ram were also displayed, but these are of lesser importance for this game.

If semi accurate latency information was visible, up front with your nick’, it would make for a lot less MP games wrecked through laggers dropping or being kicked by the host.

Simple. The reason for the lag often is not a network issue. It is due to how fast/slow their PC is, and therefore how well/badly it simulates the game. Since the host syncs the game for everyone, someone who is struggling to keep up will show up as lagging...
