My understanding is they had people working on this earlier in the day and it should be fixed by the end of the week, but don't take this as official word on that.

Kryo or someone official?

Any word on this?

[11/05/2008] [03:01:53 PM] <Highlander> Cari would be the one to say
[11/05/2008] [03:01:58 PM] <Cari_Elf> actually it'd be Nakor
[11/05/2008] [03:02:03 PM] <Cari_Elf> he said it was going slowly earlier

[11/05/2008] [03:19:36 PM] <Nakor> I am working on the Endless Universe version
[11/05/2008] [03:19:53 PM] <Nakor> having to redownload all the files makes for slow testing :(
[11/05/2008] [03:20:24 PM] <Nakor> it should be ready tomorrow

From IRC earlier...yesterday-ish.

As it's currently half past 5am, I wouldn't expect anything to occur within the next 2-4 hours, but beyond that my hopes are high.

I too am waiting to upgrade Endless Universe to version 2.0.

Could someone post a message here when it is ready?

As Cari_Elf said the EU update is delayed due to technical troubles until next week.

Just to clarify Endless Universe will not be sold through Impulse. However purchases from out in the actual EU can be registered and updated starting next week. Look for more news here as we get it. Sorry for the troubles.

in the end, I wonder if the development overhead from EU was worth it ...

For me it was, I dont have the internet connection to be able to download whole games so purchasing the hard copy was the only option, and stardock dont do a expansion packs pac like EU.

Even though it seems to have confused some people i am really happy they did it.

Thanks heaps Sole and Seabass.

that wasn't really what I meant, sorry for not being more clear

what I meant was that the specific version of EU, maybe it would have been better to just do a standard repacked all 3 galciv2 in one with localizations, instead of a weird DA+TA standalone + localizations

That was not possible because Kalypso did not have the rights to DL at the time (they since bought them from Paradox and are going to be doing such a triple-bundle).

between what's possible, and what should be done ...

I just find that developping such a specific version with all the development overhead just for commercializing in europe and also this late (it's nearly three years old already) ... seems a weird choice to me, but hey ... who am I to question stardock decisions LOL ^_^

Still waiting.  What is the progress on getting EU registered on Impulse?

It is still currently being worked on. I'm told we are very close and hoping to have the release out next week but this is not definite at this time.

To put is simply; we don't want to make you wait any longer that we have to. The moment we are certain it is working and has been tested it will go out.

The main developer of the game (Cari-elf, be super nice to her) and the VP of technology himself are personally working to have the English and German version working, updateable, and bug free. That is how important this runs.

Very sorry for the delay at this time. Please look to news posts and here in the forums for more updates.

That is good news. My Ultimate bundle just got shipped from the UK (I live in Germany), so I will get it next week.

If I start a campaign, and then later update, will my old save games be incompatible with the new patch?

Older savegames are incompatible with 2.0.  I didn't test whether it saved the campaign state or not, but if you've progressed past a given campaign, I believe that state should save-just not the savegame itself.  Could be wrong on that part, though.  :S

on the other hand, even if the campaign state (aka which mission has already been completed) is scrapped, it's not that big of an issue in my eyes since you can always "cheat" your way to the same mission you were playing before

It is unlikely that games saved before an update will be compatible once the game has been installed I'm afraid. You will likely have to start a new campain once you update.

I must have been stupid or something, because I thought EU meant European Union version (multilangual), and just now realised it means endless universe

In that case, my question is:

I bought an english GC2 - Ultimate edition (the new kalypso bundle with DL, DA and TA). I got only 1 serial, and in the Impulse game list I find GC2 DL, GC2 DA and GC2 TA. Does my serial match any of these games, or will a GC2 - Ultimate edition appear in the list at some time (probably when Endless Universe is added)?

For some reasons, there is only talk about the endless universe edition, and the new Ultimate edition bundle is not mentioned anywhere.

If you delete the save games but keep the .campaignsav file, your progress will be saved and you will only have to restart your current mission.
