Hi, I've just bought the same program but I cannot manage to install it because when the Setup Program finishes withImpulse's installation it tells me that Impulse isn't installed correctly/completely and that the Setup can't go on.

When I've checked Impulse I've noticed that it was outdated, so I updated it and I've tried again Object Desktop Ultimate Setup

BUT

The Setup Program tries to re-install the outdated version of Impulse, repeat the same Error Message and then tries to Reboot my PC...

I just don't know what I have to do....

RevanMaxwell please try the following:

1) de-install Impulse

2) re-boot

2) re-install Impulse Full Version

Once you have the full version downloaded give it time to get setup.  Impulse also auto-updates itself give that a chance to happen.

If you have problems.  Some things to look for are software that blocks Impulse and prevents it from working.  These generally tend to be Firewalls, Anti Virus, and Ad Blockers.  Make sure you set your firewall to full allow for Impulse.  Turnoff all unnecessary blocking software or configure it to ignore Impulse if that can be done.

If you still can't get Impulse working by following these suggestions then please send an email to [email protected] include the error log from Impulse if possible(just click the ? icon on upper right corner), a Dxdiag report and info regarding your OS and SP level and a list of all firewall, Anti-virus and ad blocking software you have installed.

Look, I've got problems with the Object Desktop Setup, Impulse works just fine; the only problem is that this Setup program tries to install Impulse on my PC before installing Object Desktop, even if Impulse IS ALREADY INSTALLED AND FULLY UPDATED if I could just skip the "Install Impulse" step on that Setup I think that the Installation would go on without problems.

This is the message the Setup Program gives me:

http://img162.imageshack.us/my.php?image=problgl9.png

but the Impulse version installed has been installed BY THAT SETUP PROGRAM, if I uninstall Impulse and then start the Setup, it re-install Impulse and gives me the same message, it stops always at that point (and by saying always I mean it, I've tried installing-uninstalling-downloading-deleting-updating-ecc. Impulse, so the problem shouldn't be Impulse but the Setup...)

Is there any way to install Object Desktop without installing Impulse, I mean: if someone has Impulse already installed that step couldn't be overlooked?

PS: the error log of Impulse shows that everything is working fine (the first 2 entries should be the auto-updates):

PPS: If Impulse can be auto-updated I think that there are no problems with firewalls and the like...

End of quote

Impulse is the way to install Object Desktop apps, open impulse and register Object Desktop, you will then be able to install the individual apps of Object Desktop. The set-up program should be to install Impulse only.

RevanMaxwell I think I know what may be happening based on you very thoughtfully provided screen shot.  Impulse requires Microsoft's Net 2.0 to run.  If you don't already have it, which a standard Windows XP system won't have it, Impulse tries to install Net 2.0.  The problem with Microsoft's Net 2.0 installer is this, if it is already installed even if it was a failed previous install, Net 2.0 will continue to fail on install.  Getting this type of problem corrected is not always easy and would best be handled by Stardock support.  This is most likely a Microsoft Net 2.0 installer problem.

Send an email to [email protected] with your information detailing the problem your experiencing.  Include a Dxdiag report a copy of the Impulse error log and a copy of that screenshot you posted and please reference this thread.  Then please wait for an auto-response within a short while.  Remember to check your spam folder since Stardock support isn't in your address book yet.  Make a note of the case number assigned and then wait.  Since it's Thursday night you may not get a written response from Stardock early next week.

If you want to try and solve this here, I might be able to walk you through the process of getting Net 2.0 properly installed which I am certain has to happen at this point based on your screen shot.  There are also others who are very good here at correctly identifying problems who are more experienced than I am who may see this thread and want to help.  It's your call.
