How can I reposition icons on the dock to organize them the way I want them once they are there?

Try dragging them.. if they locked, right click on the dock, popup menu,view, uncheck "lock Icon Dragging"
Hi, yes I thought that's what that setting was for, but wheather it's checked or not, there's no way of dragging anything.
Stupid thing is I want to put a seperator up but it just goes at the end of the dock and I can't move it to where I want it.
I've been at this for hours already.. I thought it was not possible.
I can't dragg any icons off the bar either, I have to right click and delete
