Have you been to Impulsedriven.com in awhile? Well if you have, you'll notice that we've done some redecorating to not only the website but the store itself. |
Stardock will be closed for the week starting on Monday, June 29th and we will be returning on Monday, July 6th. We will be monitoring support tickets and forums during this time but expect delays in responses during this time.

Okay, I'm confused. When I open Impulse to view the new Impulse I'm not seeing any Home page. The first button available to me on the left is the Store button. If I use FF3 or IE7 to go to impulsedriven.com then I see what ID has posted, this is nice. Is that how looking at impulsedriven.com is supposed to look within Impulse? If so it's not nice.
Last week and until sometime very recently there was a Demos tab. It had lot's of free demos. There is now a Free tab with just 2 items listed (yawn).
In the Store tab when viewing, I can only see 5 items listed at a time. The screen within Impulse has plenty of room. I can't find anyway to configure Impulse to display more items per page. There used to be a Full View button. It's gone. I would now have to scroll through 26 pages with 5 items per page to see all the listings in the games tab.
Edit: Found this there's now a +/- button as a column header that does the expand function.
Well right Zubaz that's what I was comparing. Looking at "Impulse" through FF3 or IE7 gives the Home Page. However, this can't be done with "Impulse" the program.
I also indicated I was seeing some differences in "Impulse" the program from how it used to work. No longer any Demos tab with lot's of free demos. I bought a new game not so long ago because I was able to download the demo. I can't find the demos anymore.
There's no longer an expanded view button (ah, found this there's a +/- column header to expand the listings).
I can click on an item and see details and visit the publishers web site but, no way to use Impulse directly for Demos anymore.
I think those 2 items not having access to the impulsedriven.com Home page from within Impulse and, I'm assuming this is temporary, not having access to all the demos are causing me to have a flat ho-hum Impulse experience when using Impulse.
I've seen others post regarding this strange glitch WebG. Not sure what the solution is though. Impulse just updated all my images the other day and I'm sure I have the same version of Flash you have. Maybe Seabass or somebody knows how to solve this.
I know of no such setting. I've checked in preferences there's no Demo setting in there. There's a Free tab on the left with 2 items in it as of yesterday.

Thanks Zubaz. I guess I just didn't see that little white triangle that's sometimes visible and sometimes not visible depending on what tab you're on. In any case, that gave me 3 game Demos counting Sins which I've already purchased. Two weeks ago I could easily find numerous game demos available to me through Impulse. I still can not find them.
I also find this confusing. Why not just make all the demos available to me on the Free tab like has been done for all the other purchase tabs?
Growing pains?
"Free" does not equal "demo" So that I get.
And having setting all over the place can be confusing. I wish they were all at least in one place (under the orb if we have to) in addition to wherever else (if they hav to be somewhere esle at all).
I also agree that showign demos for apps I have is silly. Maybe in a later build.
Agreed growing pains. I think though since finding software in the Store is now done on the left hand side through the links provided then that same model needs to be implemented for Demos. One possibility is have a sub-category of Demos somwhere beneath All in each of the relevant product categories.
If SD wants to de-couple Demos from the Store then something needs to be made obvious to users in Impulse to find Demos. Just think how much having "Demos" of Window Blinds, Object Dock and Object Bar on Cnet and available on Stardock.com has increased awareness of Stardock's products. Try before you buy works well, I think.
