Points Whores Anonymous-A 12 step program.

Come be counted and not judged.

Hello, my name is Matthew, and I am a points whore.... its been less than 24 hours since my last activity. I fell off the wagon, I admit it after I zealously went after Ashlee Simpson. I loved the attention... I had missed it so much before, and I don't want it to stop. But it must, because its just not healthy.

So in that spirit., I've decided to create the 12 step program... for overcoming being a points whore.

1. I admit that I am powerless when it comes to how the points come...
2. I believe a greater power can bring sanity to this site, and does every day(Thanks Brad and mods)
3. Make a more concerted effort to write better quality articles for the group
4. Gather all my resentments and grudges and then deal with them in a calm manner without resorting to an external article attack...
5. Be Brutally honest about everything
6. Make a concerted effort to deal with all of my blogs deficiencies
7. Be humble....
8. Figure out who gets hurt by my blogging... mostly the people in #9 I gather....
9. Clear the blacklist...
10. Figure out what is working, and what isn't... and always try to improve
11. Grant myself the ability to edit that which is editable, the patience to deal with what isn't, and the judgement to know the difference between the two.
12. Nothing will ensure that I don't fall back into the life so much as helping other recovering point whores deal with their problem as they help me deal with mine.

I hope others will soon walk the same path I do. And if not, well, I might totally become one again. Which could be interesting, but we just never know what is going to happen.

I guess I haven't gotten through step 1 yet.

Well, one post isn't going to be the end of the world.... I can do one post and be OK....

Very creative, you big whore, you.

BTW . . . have you ever blacklisted anyone?
Nah... I never blacklisted... because no one has attacked me really.... at least in my own blog. I did think about doing some pre-emptive blacklisting, but where would the fun be in that.....

I'm a blacklisting virgin, too . . . I never really want to blacklist anyone . . . I just want to call them really bad names and hit them in the face with a sledgehammer.
. . . I 'm also not surprised that you haven't blacklisted anyone yet . . .you don't seem the type to do that . . .

See, this is the characteristic point whore reaction... they are giving me points for being in a thread, and if it gets heated, well, you keep getting points....

That's the same reason I didn't get bent out of shape by that spammer hitting one of my articles... because it was a bump....

Yes, I admit it... I'm SHAMELESS!

. . . did you notice how I spread my comments out over two replies, eh? I think that, in addition to being a whore, I am also an enabler . . .

Well, you helped me fall of the wagon, because you were giving me a steady supply of things to reply to

Whoring is best with two people

That being said, we are having a fabulous conversation..... nothing wrong with that, is there..... its just a back and forth kind of things....

Oh, and in A self-portrait of sorts, I answered your question about which Simpsons episode it was.... an episode written by Conan O'Brien of all people.

Not only is that an article about how to get over point-whoring...
...but overall steps toward being a good blogger!

Addendum: 13. Do not in two replies what you are able to do in one.

Ping pong, ping pong, back and forth between two points whores (Tex and HiH--you guys know I think you're great!).

So I have an idea. Tex, you blacklist me, I write a points whoring article about it, then you write one about why, we both blacklist historyishere (HiH), then write articles about it, while he then writes about being blacklisted, and then blacklists us as retaliation, to which we write articles. . .

My head is swimming. Maybe it isnt' such a great idea after all.

he he he . . . that type of pointswhoring is for professionals, only . . .

I agree . . . it's like being rewarding for "talking" about something . . . I wish I got points for talking in real life . . .

*I'm pathetic, aren't I?*

Who needs messenger when you got JU...BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

See, here's why I am not a top-seeded points whore.... with a little foresight, I could have made that Ashlee Simpson article even bigger. mean, I could have registered for her forum and then posted both those articles up, giving 10000 people the opportunity to see them. WAIT A MINUTE. I still can... hehehehe

hehehe... now that's power points whoring.

Isn't that the basis for the EA hit the Sims?

Maybe that's why I like the Sims so much . . .

BlueDev: Wouldn't that divide the community though... I mean, everyone would take your(Texas and yourself)'s side in such a debate....

Chiprj: Exactly... couldn't have said it better myself.

Apdelong: I guess I broke rule 13.... DOH!

If I say Sims three more times, this becomes a googlebomb. I played the Sims and enjoyed it, but after I got Hot Date, the sims didn't work to well on my computer anymore.... I guess EA has some hand in how the Sims ran on this box.

I had Edward Norton's character from "Fight Club", Mr. T, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jennifer Garner living in a house across the street from Sarah Michelle Gellar, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Reese Witherspoon.... true story!

No, no, no. I don't want division at all. I just want to bring us all together. See, since Tex would do the first blacklisting (hey, she is the most popular of the three of us, by far, right?) then you and I would look like hapless, helpless victims. So our actions of blacklisting would look like simply trying to stand up for ourselves. We make sure we each get hundreds of points off these articles, then we have a group hug, all write about how we have reconciled our differences, grown and learned so much from the experience. We get more points off that and all come out looking better.

Um, I think I followed my own train of thought, but I may have gotten derailed somewhere.

I never got Hot Date . . . the farthest I took it was the Deluxe Edition . . . it was too expensive to keep buying expansion packs, dagnabit! Since my computer crashed and I got it fixed I can't get Sims to work on my computer.

That's awesome. I do that kinda stuff, too . . . I also like to make people I know. I give people I hate crappy houses. Muahahahahahaha!

This is true . . . after the big conflict comes extra love and acceptance . . . I've seen it happen

(hey, she is the most popular of the three of us, by far, right?)

First time in my life to be mentioned in a sentence about being popular!

It's brilliant, just brilliant . . . like a soap opera!

Turns out the community at her site is down now... so that avenue is gone....

We make sure we each get hundreds of points off these articles, then we have a group hug, all write about how we have reconciled our differences, grown and learned so much from the experience. We get more points off that and all come out looking better.

That would have to be carefully orchestrated too... that would be more than a 3 person job too
