Planet Especialization

I decided that my usual tactic of creating semi especialized worlds isnt working anymore., so i read a couple of posts on the forums and a couple of guys where sayig that the best players, the ones that play at maso and suiside use fully especialize worlds. Now i was trying this tecniques and i have a couple of questions:

1-What class of planet do you use for each type of world?

2-Do you especialize your homeworld too?

3-What Buildings do you use for eah type of world?

4-What ratio do you use for industrial/reaserch and economic?

Now im not stupid so ive been thinking about this and this and i have tried a couple of things and this is what ive been doing:

1-  What class of planet do you use for each type of world?

  • Economic : My best planets usually 10 to 14
  • Military : Medium Planets usually 8 to 12
  • Research : My worst planets (because reaserch is global) usually 4 to 7 for the exception of the planet where i put my reaserch capital wich i try to be at least a class 12

2-Do you especialize your homeworld too?

  • Yes, usually as a military or eco world, mostly eco.

3-What Buildings do you use for eah type of world?

  • Economic: Factory,starport,Farm,Moral,Rest on markets
  • Military: Factory,Starport,Farm,Moral,Rest on Factories
  • Research:All Research

4-What ratio do you use for industrial/reaserch and economic?

  • I dont have a ratio but mostly i like to have at least 4 production 4 research and everythig else on eco.

Now i dont like to re-invent the wheel so thats why i made this post, so i can learn wuickly and spend more time perfecting the strategy instead of creating it.

Hi LordCarlos,

I fully specialize every planet for either tech, econ, or industry.

1.  It partially depends on bonus tiles, but generally I use the larger worlds for tech or industry, and the smaller ones for econ.

2. Yes, generally industry or tech, but again partially dependent on bonus tiles.

3. At least one factory on each world so that further structures will be built faster.  At least 1 farm and morale building (depending on PQ), then fill up the rest with structures for whatever you've specialized the planet for.  I build starports only on industry worlds, except for a few exceptions so I can directly purchase ships.

4. The majority of my planets are econ, with approximately 1/4 -  1/5 for each tech & industry.

Well i got to questions about your method:

1-Isnt it a little hard to have a good eco world ina  5 or 4 class planet, ause mainly you will only have the farm and moral sructures and no markets.

2-If you build starports in only the industry world how do you manage to make big invasions, do you micromanage your transports to refill them at diferent planets?

1. I compensate by having a higher percentage of econ worlds.  With all the terraforming techs, planets end up being a minumum of PQ 8 (for DA at least, not sure about TA).

2. Yes, I often fill them at different planets than where they are built.

Having fewer starports is compensated by having a better economy and thus being able to rush-buy more ships, sometimes on planets with no industry, but only a starport.

1-What class of planet do you use for each type of world?
End of quote

Haven't given this much thought, in the few games I've played, they're usually all PQ 8-11, but mostly PQ 11. If it ever dips into the single digits, it's because it's been hit by an invasion or two, and as such, I use whatever remnant buildings to decide what type of speciatly I'll use. Haven't had to make a judgement call on a fresh lower PQ planet. Generally though, I'd only make a high PQ planet an econ planet.

2-Do you especialize your homeworld too?
End of quote

Somewhat, I lean toward industry as it's the location of my sole starport for a while. Usually have an entertainment building, couple farms, couple econ, couple labs, then rest factories.

3-What Buildings do you use for eah type of world?
End of quote

I start with a factory, and if I can afford it I'll buy it using the first couple options. Then I alternate between its specialty buildings (factories, econ, or labs), a couple farms, and a couple approval boosting buildings. May throw in influence buildings if a bonus tile presents itself.

4-What ratio do you use for industrial/reaserch and economic?
End of quote

Don't have a ratio per se. I just go by what I need. Probably around 3/8 econ, 3/8 research, and 2/8 industrial.
