Stardock is pleased to announce the release of WindowBlinds 6.3.  These releases come just in time for the start of the 2008 GUI Championships, which start next month.  WindowBlinds is the easiest way to change the look and feel of the user interface of Windows XP and Windows Vista.  There are thousands of skins (visual styles) are available for just about every style you can imagine.  People can also create their own skins with SkinStudio.

New WindowBlinds features:

  • Layers now supported!
  • Misc. tweaks and performance fixes

WindowBlinds is available stand-alone, or as part of the Object Desktop suite of desktop enhancements.  There are also bundles available which include SkinStudio or a subscription to WinCustomize.com.  You can get more information and a free trial download at www.windowblinds.net.

Does this fix the bug on the Diamond theme's menus? Alos, is it free for those with OD?

I don't know which bug you are referring to.  Also, Object Desktop subscribers get updates as long as their subscription is active.  :)

Hmm... This update didn't work at all for me. No skins will load. Never had one do this.

Could you please provide more information?  OS, how did you update, etc.?

I am also having significant troubles after today's update. On my screen I am seeing the XP default skin. However going to "Display/Properties/Appearance" I am shown that WindowBlinds is installed and that my selected WindowBlind is selected and operational. When I select WindowVBlinds (the application) I am told that I will have to reboot and disable antivirus applications, etc. However, the installation of the latest version of WB this morning was through Stardock Central and I received no alarms from my antivirus application (ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite.) I have now rebooted three times and the situation hasn't cleared up. I can't/won't disable my antivirus application for WindowBlinds.

I am operating XP Pro.

I'm using XP-Pro SP2. I updated through SD Central. I've already put a ticket in with tech support. Really all I want now is to go back to 6.2. Just don't know how to. Thanks, Dave

For the 3-5 minutes it takes to install the program?

Any program that has real-time protection of your registry like Windows Defender will block the proper installation since it won't let the program write registry keys. Additionally, since Impulse installs software over the internet it needs to have access thru your firewall.

It is your option to go without Windowblinds but I don't think you'll be in all that much danger during the installation. :)

The install was flawless through Impulse on Vista. So perhaps isolated through XP and SDC?

Installed via Impulse and everything went very smoothly. Thanks

I meant to say that I won't disable my antivirus permanently for WindowBlinds. As it is, I did so yesterday to uninstal and completely reinstall 6.3. And everything went just fine. UNTIL I turned my computer off overnight. This morning I was back where I started yesterday. I am showing that WindowBlinds 6.3 is installed, etc., etc. however on my screen I am seeing the XP default skin.

How do I go back to a previous version of WindowBlinds? I "archived" on the installation of 6.3.
