Doesn't Mean I Write Serious Political Commentary

I have never divulged the identity of a CIA operative either, probably because the Bush administration has never seen fit to leak such information to me. Of course, that may have something to do with my non-published status and lack of reputation, but I like to delude myself into believing it is because they know I have morals.
Curious, isn't it? No, no. Not that the Bush folks won't talk to an unknown writer, but that they will divulge the name of a CIA operative, which strikes me as being in the 'need to know' category, yet they do NOT want us to know whose input went into formulating a national energy policy. Any US driver or householder who uses heating oil can attest to the fact that energy policy DOES affect us all.
Okay, so I DO write political commentary. However, I recommend that it be taken with at least a shaker of salt. And that is not all I expect to write. Since I am a voracious reader of news articles, I frequently run across items that strike me as absurd or just plain stupid. How, for example, can 350 tons of high explosives 'disappear' in iraq? Did David Copperfield pay a visit to entertain the troops and show them his incredible sleight-of-hand? If so, they need to ask him how he pulled off the stunt.
Incredible! 350 tons of high explosives 'disappeared'. Did it not occur to anyone that 'hey! this stuff could be dangerous if it fell into the wrong hands'? UN inspectors knew it was there before the war so hopefully they told Coalition forces, but that begs another question. If they knew it was there, why didn't they remove it? Surely UN inspectors would have more resources at their disposal than 'looters' and terrorists. But then maybe they were too busy trying to figure out how to get in on the bribes that Saddam Hussein was flinging about - or actually accepting such 'gratuities' to look the other way.
Whatever the case, I will be monitoring that story and countless others, then returning to this spot to post my observations and opinions. And maybe in this way, as time advances, I will become known enough so that the next time a presidential administration decides to 'out' a CIA operative, it will consider ornery51 as a conduit for the information.l
